To judge by the "database error" messages I've been getting all night, this guy seems to excite the fans more than previous favourites. I think it's fair to say we can't agree on anyone, if it were Guardiola or Klopp some people would still moan, but I think the general feeling towards this guy seems more positive than with any of the previous favourites. At the end of the day, I can't stress enough that we cannot afford proven excellence at a high level. It's a straight up choice between boring and mediocre on the one hand and exciting but risky on the other.

Give me exciting but risky any day (especially with the league all but a foregone conclusion!).

Had similar issues with primadonnas to AVB at Chelsea. Doesn't make him a bad manager IMO. Did really well with a mediocre (apart from Ronaldo) Portugal team.

I never said 'young player'. I have no idea why you put that in quotes?

I agree that it is a risk. However I think the prinicple is basically the same. Yes we have to be a bit more forensic in our search as there is more at risk but if we want to get a manager that can help us progress. We need to catch a rising star on the way up.

Not having it m wouldnt welome it . Gimme Ronny any day , guy looks like a progressive football coach that will develop players properly . Won the league with 10% of rosenborgs budget ...thats like aberdeen winning the spl.

Anybody else picked up on the fact he's a qualified teacher?

Goes a way to explain what seems like excellent man-management skills. This guy genuinely excites me.

Just being realistic, or do you think Deila is going to be allowed to come in and buy/sells who he wants???

Neil Lennon was never given more than a 1-year rolling contract, was he? that's despite massive financial and European success. He never spent more than what? £3million on a player?

Lennon came in and spent the vast majority of the money he made on selling McGeady etc do you think if we sell Forster etc Deila - who has very little experience of the transfer market at large will be allowed to spend it??

He did a distinctly average job with Portugal - barely had them into the play-offs to qualify for the WC and was poor at the actual finals. Don't think there has been much to suggest he is a good manager based on those two jobs but that's by the by for this thread!

I used to think I was quite a negative, pessimistic kind of person until I joined TC.

Being realistic you expect someone to come and manage us and be told we do not trust him to buy players yet put our trust in him to take us to CL group stages. That is trust him with £50million goal but not trust him with £3million spend.
