I'd turn down Guardiola if he was bringing Nevin as his assistant.

Excited about this. Why exactly has he emerged as favourite? Who's reporting that there's been contact between coach and club?

I don't really know what Melvin thinks (or even who he is) but Mevin is usually pretty spot on and I can assure you that he PM'd me those exact 3 names over a week ago.

This is true, and some people lost faith in Mevin too. Guys, Mevin is definitely ITK.

Mowbray certainly was a good manager at one point in time but his last two managerial jobs did end in failure so it's possible he could be damaged goods now. If I was a chairman in England and I was thinking about giving Mowbray a chance at my club I would worry about his capacity to learn and adapt. Hibs were dodgy defensively under Mowbray, West Brom the same, we were shocking at the back while Mowbray was here and I don't think Middlesbrough were that solid defensively under him either. It's as though he couldn't figure out a way to make his teams solid at the back or he was too stubborn to change his philosophy if that's what was necessary to fix that problem.

I am with you though, I would like to see him get another crack at management. He's not half as bad a manager as some folk on here make him out to be.

A quick search tells me Mowbray spent £38m in 3 years at WBA. That is roughly £12.6m a season, which isn't too much. In one article it stated how Bolton spent £8m alone on Johan Elmander, WBA didn't spend anywhere near as much as some club - certainly not Sunderland! :smiley-laughing002:

    * Mowbary, anyway here's Pedro on Mevin's impending appointment on Sky

Parkhead chief executive Peter Lawwell told Sky Sports News that Celtic are hoping to name their new manager in the next week and they are still talking to a number of candidates.

Lawwell said: "There is nothing more we can say, we are still working on it. But hopefully within the next few days, or certainly within the next week, we might have something to say.

"We are still working on the same number (of candidates). We are talking to a lot of people and hopefully we will get the right guy soon.

"We have met a few of the guys and it's been good. We have enjoyed the process and there has been a lot of good candidates."

Why though you have said you dont want him but you havent actually given a reason why. Hes an * aye but he knows his stuff when its the technical aspect to the game, Not long ago now alot of people would also have a divided oppinnion on a certain neil lennon as a player. Its not about if we like them or love them. Its what they can do to take the team forward. Were missing a link in the tatical side of things considering europe.
Whats your reason why you wouldnt want him as a assistant other than you dislike his personallity ?
A respect everybodys views mate dont have a bad word to say on here about a soul and if a gave it a by well whats the point in not talking about a debatable topic in a forum lol :celt_2:

Ronny Deila sounds like the perfect appointment for Celtic. Strong work ethic, focused on developing youth, building a winning squad on a budget (unbelievable progress he's made), implementing a philosophy based on attacking football from his experiences with Jurgen Klop and Brenden Rodgers, young ambitious coach - similar to Lennon in that respect.

We, the fans, would need to be patient though. Not the sort of appointment that would focus on Champions League Qualification this season, but building for long term stability and progress which our board are always emphasising.

He does hear things, mate. I think he repairs the vending machines or something. He was the one that leaked the story about Mjällby beating the crap out of them after another argument with Park.

AVB is managing arguably the biggest club in russia. champions league football, very good squad and only been there for a few months so im not surprised people arent coming in for him, because he's more than likely happy where he is for now

i get why your making your points, but i dont necessarily think its this bloke people are getting excited about...but more the fact that the board seem to be looking at someone like him - a young coach, playing an attractive brand of football and by all accounts seems to be able to get the best out of his players. not a premier league reject

saying that, i think this bloke is a good shout. he looks like he has a bit of character about him, seems a good motivator, very studious and looks to improve himself as much as his players and the team. you just need to look at the progression stromsgodset have made over the last 4 years to see he can actually build something greater than the sum of its parts

Oh my *, you're actually being serious!!!!!!! I assumed you were joking and was just playing along! If I feel a natural disgust reaction to the thought of Nevin anywhere near the club I love, it's probably because I'm a human being with unavoidable reactions programmed by millions of years of natural selection.
