Not going to get my hopes up with this. Untill an appoointment is made its pure guess work. I would be happy if it was Delia, not heard much about him but its the right way to go forward. At least this man has experience in development and winning a league which in norway is impressive considering Rosenbergs foothold.
Him with nevin as assistant and i would be happy.

take alot of your points on board :50:

however boas is hardley been fought over for managerial postions at current. which tells me something.

just because hes foriegn, someone has explained his style as expansive and is youngish doesnt mean hes a better choice than the others.

he may well turn out to be great, he may turn out to be *, hes more of a risk than clarke, moyes or malky. taking that risk could send us back years.

im not against him, my points were aimed at some getting over excited about a bloke who we know little about, and has achieved relativly little in his carear as a manager.

    everyone to their own.:shamrock:

I'll admit I'd never heard of this guy (Deila) when I woke up this morning, but everything I've read since makes me feel really excited about the idea.

Maybe it's too early to say this and I'll wake up tomorrow to fiind Coyle is the new manager, but I'm starting to think that our board are doing a really good job on this. Apart from Keane, which was leaked by MON and not the club, the entire process has been conducted very professionally. Media rumours aside, the only thing we actually know for sure is that Keane was in the running.

More and more I feel Lawwell was telling the truth when he said there were 8 or 9 candidates at that point (of which Keane was just one) and that there was no preferred candidate. Given that their hand was forced by MON, I think the board handled that really well: they told us what we needed to know (that Keane was only one of 8 or 9 candidates) without revealing anything that might compromise the process with other candidates. Only the fact that the bookies had him as favourite (in spite of an explicit denial from Lawwell) allowed the media to spin Keane's withdrawal from the process at an early stage as being a rejection of a concrete offer.

Finally, if CQN is to be believed, Deila is now one of 3 remaining candidates, all with similar attributes, so again it was only the media speculation that gave the impression that we were obsessed with employing former Celtic men and weren't willing to look at new ideas from Europe. That was the media's lack of imagination, not our boards.

All in all, regardless of who it is (I'd be happy with Clarke or someone like this Deila guy), I'm more and more starting to feel excited and confident that our board know what they're doing and will get the right guy. It was only my naivety in believing the media that had me feeling down and pessimistic about this appointment.

Now watch them unveil Coyle or Mackay tomorrow and make me feel like the world's biggest idiot for writing this post. :smiley-laughing002:

    Although this guy looks promising....

ppl need to relax. Both his club and his agent has said there has been no contact, none. Not even a phone call to enquire.

You are cooking rabbits that have not been caught.

Although out of all the candidates I would take this guy or garcia over what we have een linked with so far.

Im not joking, Yes i hate him as a wee know it all * on the tele.. BUT to give him credit he is a know it all * in respect to tatcits and positioning ect. Merge that with this delia mans ethos of playing fast flowwing attacking football and a man who knows how to set up his team to best utilise these tatics for games in europe, Then you have the makings of a really scary celtic team who could compete.
It would be the equivalent of us playing like we did away to AC MILAN last year each and all games.
I think it would work but i maybe know nothing about football :)

What a load of guff regarding Tony Mowbray. You can criticise Mowbray for some things but his teams did not play 'pig ugly football'. The vast majority of Hibs and West Brom fans were delighted with the style of football Mowbray delivered. Mowbray's problem was that he never quite figured out how to play an attacking style of football while keeping the back door shut at the same time. It is also bollocks to say he wasted a fortune at West Brom. Mowbray got West Brom promoted and actually made more money in player sales than he spent on signings while doing so.

Anyone else think MON knew exactly what he was doing by leaking the Keane thing. He's such a smart guy and he didn't want to lose Keane. I think he played that very well from his point of view.

I honestly believe Mowbray is a good manager. He wasn't right for Celtic, but he's a much better manager than most in the SPL (maybe only McCall and McInnes better?) and I'd love to see the guy back managing in Scotland.

Pat Nevin could know the lottery numbers for the next ten years or who shot Kennedy or even where the holy grail is, and i would still not want that wee rat anywhere near our club he's a jumped up TV commentator to me.

I think you're onto something, mate. That matches the PM I got from Mevin a week and a half ago.
