No way we could afford him long-term, but I see no reason we couldn't afford him for a few months.

If the board are still wanting their 1st choice in Henrik, why not offer Ranieri (or someone of a similar mould - old head, top European club experience; I deliberately discount Jol as he's had couple of stinkers recently) the job until November?

Pay Ranieri a premium to guide us to the Champions League and deal with the transfer window, then let Henrik take over in November once he's finished his season in Sweden (on more modest wages and with the guts of a team built by an experienced manager).

Truth is I wouldn't trust most of the candidates near the top of the betting list to take us to the Champions League and in a good percentage of cases even the Europa League. Ranieri is an experienced head and strikes me as a guy that could come in and get the job done from the off.

Hope it's Laudrup but it could be any one of him, Steve Clarke, The Khing, Coyle, Mackay and Moyes in that order of likelihood imo.

You think Laudrup is most likely?

I honestly haven;t got a clue.. If I had to guess I'd say:

Mackay, Clarke, Laudrup, Larsson, Moyes, Coyle

Hopefully your not saying that in a positive manner. Don't want the little cretin anywhere near here again, he has made his decision.

Just think about this though, if we got Henrik he might bring his son at some point. Now thats something to get more excited about:smiley-laughing002:

Naw I just seen how that looks though :smiley-laughing002: just meant Laudrup is my preferred candidate but it's really between the rest in that order I think. Think the board will push the Larsson one though to get bums in seats.

I'm quite surprised how long this process is taking. I honestly thought we'd have appointed someone last week. I suppose if the board had decided Roy Keane was their first choice then they had to wait for Ireland to get their friendly out the way before they could do anything.

What kind of offer would that be though? He's turning down your Southamptons and West Broms now. He'd only leave us if he got an offer from the likes of Valencia, Spurs, Bilbao or someone like that I reckon, which wouldn't happen unless he did extremely well with us in Europe. In which case I'd wish him good luck and be grateful for what he did.

I really don't think he's coming here anyway.

It would be a disaster for both Henrik and the club if he came here and failed.

His management experience just doesn't cut it yet.

    Why though?

Henrik have made a fantastic job at Falkenberg, and he have been a manager for quite some time now. Lennon had no experience what so ever.

Henrik is Henrik for gods sake. He would come here, and he would stay here because he is such a faithful guy. Come back to Celtic where you belong king larsson :50:

He attended a training session and we beat Aberdeen with 9-0

The same could have been said about Lennon. A coach under Strachan and then reserve team manager when Mowbray came in. Going by the 'experience' comment, that hardly qualified him to take charge of the first team, but it worked out ok.

The anti-Larsson opinion is borne out of fear of him tarnishing his legend - which I completely understand. If he is going to become manager, now is the time to do it. He effectively has a free run at the title, a cup would be an improvement on this season and the only real pressure from the start would be Champions League qualification.

At first I was relieved that Keane turned it down. Now I am thinking that it might have spiced next season up a bit to see what he does off the pitch more than anything else.

If Larsson failed we'd all still love him though. He could never tarnish his legend.
