I wrote in this thread a couple of days ago, * it feels like weeks, that Keane was a smokescreen. Call me cynical but i still think he was sounded out about the job knowing full well that the wages and amount of money he would get for transfers would not be enough for him to take the job. Then they could say, hey we looked for the best and unfortunately we were knocked back. Heres your new manager, Owen Coyle. (the guy we were always gonna give the job to coz he's cheap and will do what he is told). I still hope to * i'm wrong.

This is nothin to do with the dead club (Murray had £110m btw) the guys with links to Celtic are worth £8billion, intrest off that would never be missed and it wouldnt be a play thing.

Aye, who wants a guy who seemingly worked closely with Guardiola anyway?

Never really got the feeling that Garcia was a serious contender anyway, it will be one of the Scottish lads in the end up (Mackay, Clarke or Moyes as a long shot).

Steve Clarke for the job. Prematurely sacked by WBA who fell into the EPL trap of thinking they should be doing better than they were off the back of one good season, a season which Clarke orchestrated. It would appear that he also believed that he was getting Lukaku back on loan for another season until he went to Everton leaving them a bit short up front. He was kept on by numerous Chelsea managers and was highly respected there, all things point to him being a good tactician and coach, which is what we need right now. I'd still rather Moyes but that looks very unlikely

I'd take Clarke in a second. He's worked with a lot of managers and Mourinho has sung his priases numerous times.

We would have lost more than £4 million from reduced season ticket sales and the £100 reduction, match day ticket sales would have been down, lose of money from no cup runs and the income from winning the league was down by a few hundred thousand. when you add all that up, you are probably talking about a loss of around £6 million. We also spent about 10 million this season, so I don't think transfer budget of £5 million is too bad, when considering more money will probably become available once forster and/or van * are sold

We should just get Desmond or Lawwell to appear as a contestant on Deal Or No Deal....instead of money in the boxes we could have the names of the candidates.....Coyle could be the equivalent to the £1 box....all the way up to the likes of Laudrup or Larsson in the £1m box.

It would be perfect for all involved.....we'd finally get a manager....Channel 4 would get a massive boost in viewing figures......which in turn would let Edmunds negotiate a new contract so that he could buy dye for his hair....the same colour as his beard.

We could even get it beamed live to the big screens at Parkhead.

No matter who it is,the appointment will be underwhelming, and there will still be no spending or strengthening of any significance whatsoever.

I'm liking Steve Clarke's CV. Seems to have a knack for getting results against top EPL sides, plus worked with Mourinho, and European experience.

Downside seems to be a defensive philosophy.

You really think we'll start playing defensively in the SPLPFL?

This. Why do people rely on bookie odds and media stories for information. These sources rely on fan rumours creating a vicious circle. Fans should prepare for a shock when the announcement is made.
