    Steve Clarke has went odds on now :smiley-laughing002:

    That has been 4 different candidates been odds on in the space of a week. The bookies must have made a fortune from this.

    Delighted keanes out..

    Anothet smack in the face to the board, going for a dud manager who was last sacked years ago by ipswich and then to be told to.not have him in the running, he's interested..

    Steve clarke would be a good appointment..

    I am just delighted it's not Keane. Now to pray it's not coyle I hope it's Garcia or Moyes

    West Brom fans seem pretty confident they have got Moyes in the next fortnight so we will see

    Not really a smack to the face, he was probably one of several candidates being considered and was the only one that has properly leaked out. Doesn't mean that he was first choice.

    Think we've learned from the Mowbray debacle where we publicly went for Coyle and then Roberto Martinez only to be knocked back and get our man at the 3rd time of asking.

    I've got a bad feeling it's gonna be Coyle.

    Can't pretend to be disappointed. IMO Keane shouldn't have been a front-runner to begin with. What got up my nose re. Keane for manager was the way a lot of people outside Celtic, especially English media/fans, seemed to think he would be doing US a favor by taking the job, as if he was somehow gracing us with his presence. We would have been doing HIM the favor after his dire spell at Ipswich. IMO our next managers main goal should be to turn us into a regular last 16 CL club. One that isn't merely happy to be in the group stages but who can genuinely compete each time at that level. Someone Italian perhaps? they're usually excellent tactically and they know all the tricks in the book. They invented most of them.

    Summary on the basis of bookies odds and paper reports (just to try and weed out the *)

    The following have definitely been interviewed or at least contacted:

    - Roy Keane (definitive proof - O'Neill told us as much and McGeady has been on record as speaking to him about it);
    - Henrik Larsson (definitive proof - Falkenberg went public about our approach);
    - Steve Clarke (not direct proof but very strong indication - supposedly he was in over the weekend and odds have been slashed the past 24-48 h and I doubt this would be down to a bet flurry since Keane was seen as almost certain on Friday).

    The following have probably been interviewed or contacted (basis - paper speculation, they happen to be out of work, and most likely would be received positively by most fans and/or have an attractive track record so would be on the radar):

    - Malky Mackay;
    - Michael Laudrup;
    - David Moyes.

    The following may not have been contacted but would probably be very interested in the job (if media reports are to be believed):

    - Oscar Garcia (Daily Mail have been pushing this for a week or so);
    - Paulo DiCanio (ditto);
    - Owen Coyle (could be in the former category but besides a flurry of bets this time last week I don't recall an article saying he'd been contacted plus he seems to divide opinion so not sure he'd be the first guy the bosses would call).

    These guys are names that have popped up here and there but can't see any real basis for it:

    Jackie McNamara, Thomas Tuchel, Chris Hughton, Mick McCarthy, Paul Lambert, Uwe Rosler, Dan Petrescu, John Collins.

    No wonder there taking there time, maybe apart from Davie Moyes there's no one on the list who I would hire either!

    Media reporting that Keane has turned it down he wasn't offered the job he has simply ruled himself out its a big difference

    This is a Mowbray scenario, wasnt he 4th or 5th choice at the time, the way its looking now we will end up with coyle, if its the cheap option id rather have Jackie Mac over him

    The club probably didn't offer him it. Desmond probably told him it was his if he wanted it.
