I honestly don't think Keane will do a bad Job.

He took Sunderland from the pitts in the championship to promotion, which was a great achievement in its self.

Compared to Lenny when he first was appointed he has more experience.
he will stand up for the club, something we cry out for on a daily basis (which lenny done aswell).

I honestly don't see how employing a man of his stature (footballing terms) can be such a bad thing.

    Im excited actually.

however as others have said hopefully his temper ha clamed.

I don't have to love everyone in and around Celtic. Same as I wont get on with every celtic supporter in the world, but as long as those employed by the club love it and try to do what is best for it then that's good enough for me.

It will b a exciting season with Keano at the helm!

Personally, if I was a manager I'd ban all my team from clubbing...just like on the continent....

    Or was it...the incontinent.....???:97:

Roy Keane and René Meulensteen could be a dream team together.

ye in 2003 just after Seville , we had a chance to pump a good bit of money into th team and go further in the CL the following year/s......but even the board was stingy, porto and Liverpool where great examples of this and went further after 2003 themselves,us just as usual were basically told " if you can do it with this team in Seville then you can go further after Seville"....we had a great chance to really pull away from anyone but the board held us back as usual...

and again with the manager its the same, there are great managers out there with great knowledge and not afraid to try a continental touch but we go for coyle or keane, both poor managers as far as the stats look.

but as stated if its one of them I will be very disappointed but have to just get on with it

We lost money after Seville and was basically hemorrhaging money. It was after that we realised that it was unsustainable keeping up the current budget.

Aye the level of spending and wages were unsustainable during that period and to be honest - we could have done better.

We needed at least 1, maybe 2 re-saleable players back then but we just never. All we had was an ageing squad with a time limit. Although, they brought us good times. That was really the last hurrah for Scottish football and 'keeping up' with other nations.

Me too,I know this is all hypothetical for he hasn't been appointed yet but from who we have been hearing about ie ML no way will he take the cut in wages,Coyle had his chance,Moyes no chance.

I personally think Roy Keane would be good for our young team, and he will certainly raise interest in Celtic.

I honestly cant remember loosing so much money back then ....I remember that we really had a chance to go further forward than we have in many many years.....im not talking 12 million pound strikers for instance, the merchandise /the games/taking over 100 thousand fans abroad certainly made us an even bigger noticed brand than previous years....

but don't wanna go off in a different tangent here....

im just disappointed that both favourites are basically bad managers SO FAR as stats prove.....just wish maybe we could really push the boat out ie.paying besiktas for bilic as an example.....but we will go for a yes/no 3 bags full man that wont say * to the board as usual......we have made an enormous amount of money in the last few years,so show us some respect back and don't go for cheap and easy option

Mental considering the share offers that preceded 2003 but Barnes jizzed away much of that.

I agree, Bilic wouldn't even be expensive because believe it or not he has just 1 year left on his contract and is on a lowly wage, circa £600k-£700k a year.

I said months ago I'd love to see Roy Keane as our manager.

    Hopefully it comes to fruition.

Don't really fancy Keane as Celtic manager but if he gets us to the CL Group stages repeatedly then i will support him but if he fails this season to get there then he should go.

The * he signed with Sunderland is my main worry if he gets the job. Also not sure how good he'd be tactically as a manager/coach. All I know is he'll bring drive and passion to the job and the players will want to run through brick walls for him.

That would be a bit harsh, considering he'd have had the job only a few months.. How many seasons did it take Lennon to get us into the CL?
