lets not take away from keane the chance this is for him, hes going to win the league no matter what, and build a team to dominate as i said i can see big changes in the squad whenever lennon gets a job there could be players following him

I would honestly rank Keane lower than Owen Coyle when it comes to who I would like to see as our new manager. He would be as far down as possible because his track record shows he's abysmal at it! Praying it's Laudrup and that at very best Keane is just on standby in case the board can't get Laudrup or Moyes

If it does end up being Roy Keane who gets the job I have no doubt that Dermot Desmond has taken the box office effect into consideration. Although his managerial record is sketchy there is no doubt that Roy Keane is still a huge name in football and as such he'll probably put bums on seats.

In a way it would be quite exciting to see such a big name arriving at the club but I think it's fair to have some pretty serious reservations about Keane's managerial credentials. And I do have those reservations. I worry about his man management skills for a start. I admire his brutal honesty when he is a pundit on television but brutal honesty won't necessarily work that well in a dressing room environment I wouldn't imagine. Telling players how badly they have played, especially if done in Keane's typically blunt manner, could potentially destroy their confidence as opposed to inspiring them to do better next time. I'm all for giving players a rocket when it's necessary but Tony Mowbray tried the brutally honest approach when he first arrived at Celtic and I'm convinced that certain players couldn't handle the truth and ultimately turned against him for that reason. I'd worry about the same thing happening with Keane.

One positive about hiring Keane is that the job won't be too big for him. He's played for a bigger club than us, and at the very highest level of football, so he has a fair size of an ego on him and would be able to handle the constant media and fan scrutiny that goes with the Celtic job. The ability to handle that side of things shouldn't be underestimated.

I'm not sure how I feel about Keane getting the job overall. I can see both positives and negatives. I'd rather have him than Owen Coyle or Malky Mackay, that's really the biggest positive I can see right now.

A positive (possibly) of having Keane is he may have pulling power for players, just because who he is & his contacts.

Would love to see a Roy Keane - Scott Brown bust up.

A guarantee that If we get Keane that John O'Shea will sign.

How about Roy Keane - Shay Given double act.

We would still be the best thing for him at the minute. Has he been offered any job since he got the sack from Swansea? We always talk about players going for more money, are managers different do you think? If we could offer him more than what he was on at Swansea, don't you think he would be interested at the minute, considering he is out work.

Better not be Keane, * off. He's just not cut out to be our manager or a manager generally.

There are much better options out there.

As someone mentioned earlier, there's not many of these contacts that actually like him.

Very close to nail on head there with Sunderland and Ipswich. Not totally accurate with the wingers though. At the former he often played two up top with big Daryl Murphy as his left winger and a central midfielder on the right hand side.

To be fair though they were both a while ago now and in Europe he will probably be more savvy after years as a pundit on those occasions. Ireland play a 4-2-3-1 these days too so could have changed his tactical outlook.

    Good post mate.

The only thing I would disagree about, is that I would have Mackay before him.

If he does get the job, touch wood he has learned some man management from Martin Oneill. After all that was his strongest point in Management.

Still think if he gets the joab, his backroom staff appointments will be just as crucial if not more important.

His (Keane) reputation may well be a hindrance when it comes to bringing players in.

am i the only one that can see this guy destroying the club

dont want him at all the guy is like a child having tantrums

disastrous if we get him rather than some experienced european style manager that can continue the philosphy of our football, there's millions of them to choose and doesnt need to cost a bomb
