I still cannot for the like of me imagine why McKay is seen as a better choice than Coyle, all McKay has done is get Cardiff promoted after bottling it the two years or so before he came in. Whereas Coyle has done good in Scotland, got Burnley promoted when no one expected them to be, played good football with them, had a good first year and a half at Bolton before it all went pear-shaped.

For me they're at least on the same level, with Coyle having proven more.

MacKay also guided Cardiff to the League Cup final in this first season in charge, only losing out on penalties.

Of what is being touted as the top three candidates - Keane, Coyle and MacKay - there really isn't anything in it between the three. Both have won promotion from the Championship and both have been * in it.

Keane would pip it for me out of the three due to his personality but I don't want any of them.

The big difference in my opinion between Mackay and the other two, is the time since their last success as manager. Mackay not long ago got Cardiff promoted to the EPL, and took them to a League Cup Final. He had them in with a real fighting chance of staying in the top league also, and if I'm honest, I think he would have, had he not got harshly dealt with by a Chairman, who in my opinion, has enough knowledge of football as to write it on the back of a postage stamp, and have enough room to sign it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they were in the bottom 3 when Mackay departed.

If you look at the other two, neither have had any success stories of late. Coyle has made an * of his last two jobs, and is a manager in decline, and likewise Keane. There might not be much between them when you look at their whole managerial career, but if you look at recent times, it's a different story.

Out of they three, it's a no brainer for me, Macaky would be at the head of the queue. Although he wouldn't be my preferred choice overall.

I agree that Malky would have kept them in the EPL, he had them oganised and they knew his system and what each players role was and that all changed when Ole Gunnar came in. Cardiff chairman is an idiot, he sacked Ian Moody, who had done a great job, and replaced him with a 23yr old friend of his son, some muppet from khazakstan who knew nothing about English football.

Intresting to hear Uwe Rosler being considered always strikes me as a bit of a miserable git who would jump ship again if an offer from England came in

Roy Keane to be confirmed today

According to the Mail in the last 15 minutes, Keane will leave Ireland for the Celtic job, will be announced this afternoon at Irelands presser.

MON has already drafted in Guppy and Walford today as his replacement.

FAI refusing to comment until after the press conference.

Looks like this is a done deal. Couple of bookies have stopped taking bets too.

Sounds good. If true, I hope he keeps the head and brings his playing career success to the the team. They could do with his mental toughness.

Cant see him lasting more than a season. the media will be rubbing their hands at this one. They constatnly painted Lennon as belligerent and abrasive, they;re gonna have a * field day with Roy.

Was hoping for Laudrup but Roy could do a job. Still wanted Laudrup though.

This is Desmonds choice. Peter had little to do with it.

This is a massive gamble from our majority share holder.
