THe 2 key elements necessary for Celtic to grow and prosper is (1) Buy cheap, sell high. (2) Utilise the youth academy.

It's the only way we can compete in the big leagues. Now, we seem to have the first rule down, John Park and the other Scouts have done an excellent job at that. But we haven't been using the youth academy as much as we should.

Manager slike Moyes and Coyle have never ben known to promote youths. Where as Jackie already has proved he loves to do this.

I think a prerequisite for getting the job is that you have to promise to use the youngsters more.

Exactly but I wonder how the board approach these things?

Like, we all have knowledge of so many different managers here and there but does Lawwell, or does he have an advisor?

If not then we are relying on old, wealthy businessmen picking a manager. Will they even think of guys like: Ramos, Yakin, Skibbe, Besnik, Hasi or Preud'homme?

I must admit I find the whole 'McNamara's teams play good football' a bit of a myth. It used to be peddled about John Hughes' and Terry Butcher's teams as well! I've just never seen if I'm honest.

Laudrup is tactically astute yes, but he's also notoriously lazy. Doesnt take training sessions and * of holiday all the time.

    No from me.

    Oscar Garcia please.

MON was similar though? We have good enough backstaff to take training sessions but I do prefer if a manager is hands on and 'bonds' with the team.

Moyes or Malky for me ,Both have decent records in England so they would dominate up here.

Not when in crisis mode though. Swansea where in a shambles and he decided it was a good time to take a holiday to Paris. When he returned he was promptly sacked.

Backstaff handling training sessions is fine yes, especially if the manager has other business to attend to, but theres a difference between delegating and apathy, Laudrup was also criticed for this behavior by his own players at both Mallorca and Spartak.

I'd prefer a hands on manager. Not a ex-legend who seems to be permanently stuck in holiday mode.

A lot of money for Keane today ,could have been a bundle of cash made with these fluctuations in the market

Certainly, Partick Thistle played very good football with Jackie in charge and so have Dundee Utd, although they are very erratic.

My main concern with Jackie MaNamara is, has he got the killer instinct?

It was Alan Archibald that got Thistle promoted and United blow very hot and cold.

That said, he could be worth the gamble?

Best odds available on Keane are 7/2. Really can't see us going for him and I really don't want him.

No, not for me. I've never really been very impressed with the way his teams have played. As I mentioned, I think it's all a bit of a myth, similar to the way Terry Butcher's and John Hughes' teams used to be praised for 'playing good football'- I've certainly never seen it!

I do agree with your suspicion over his mentality though. I don't think he's got the killer instinct either.
