To be fair, the same situation sort of happened at Liverpool - these things happen, its all cyclical.

I know what you mean though, I'm just realistic. Moyes would be considered a 'luxury' in todays market. :smiley-laughing002:

    would rather have Di Canio.

Keane has bombed on the managerial scene. Doesn't seem to praise anyone ever. Can imagine massive motivational problems behind the scenes if he was in charge.

Aye, the best thing I'd say is he gave a lot of youth players a chance, fair enough there. I would say that they are majorly overrated, though. The few times I saw Dundee United this season, they failed to impress me. Particularly in the game against Rangers where they were woeful, could barely string 3 passes together.

They had an alright season but some of their results were very poor. Jackie still needs another 2 or 3 seasons before we can really judge him. Mind you, I'd rather have him than that clown Coyle.

Moyes is good enough to manage Celtic, but we don't need a manager like that just now.

Would take him every day of the week over Coyle though

Yes and Liverpool had to go through some bad managerial choices before they went for Brendan Rodgers, the young up and coming manager that did well at other teams before them, promotes youth, attacking style and astute in the transfer market. i.e Jackie McNamara

McNamara excelled at United:smiley-laughing002: No he hasn't. He's been good but not excelled.

The problem with them was inconsistency. When they were good they were unbelievable to watch.

The inconsistency is expected with a team almost exclusively made up of young players. An inexperienced manager too, that is still learning. McNamara would bed in very quickly at Celtic cause he spent a decade here. and he already has experienced players in the team, so he wouldn't have to worry about the inconsistency quite so much.

No one is mroe liley to give the likes of Henderson, Watt etc a fair shot than McNamara

United have had a weird season. I had them all but pinned for 3rd and the bottled it and finished well behind Aberdeen and nearly finished 5th!

Then they lost the Scottish Cup aswell. Jackie is good but he isn't quite there. I expect them to do well next season though.

I disagree. I think Keane would be able to motivate players far more effectively than most of the other options like McNamara, MacKay and Coyle. He's also achieved just as much/less as those other potential candidates during his relatively short managerial career.

I also think having someone like Martin O'Neill in an advisory role might also be quite beneficial.

If we're going down the cheap route again I wouldn't be against Jackie coming in.

And all this 3 year contract stuff for coyle thats being posted, wasnt it decided by Lawwell himself after the Mowbray shambles and how much it cost to get rid of him, that contracts would always be 1 year rolling,

Right, I'm going to do a 360 turn (kind of) and say I'd maybe be ok with Roy Keane.

They guy is pretty high profile (not as a manager though) and I don't think it would be seen as a cheap, tacky option. He is passionate and would (if he behaves well) motivate the * out of the players.

Roy also knows the European teams inside out - he thrived on the big stage. He could get us good European results through passion alone but I'm unsure about his tactics.

He will also have plenty of contacts though and people would love to play for him.

Moyes was given his opportunity at the top and couldn't handle it.
Keane had a huge transfer budget at Sunderland and failed pretty miserably. And failed at Ipswich too.
Coyle failed at Bolton who gave him plenty of money and Wigan who should have been pushing for promotion.

These guys couldn't hack it with multiple millions more than they will get at Celtic. We need someone that can do well with a very limited budget without sacrificing Celtic's footballing philospohy.

I don't trust them in the transfer market. I don't trust them to utilise the youth. And i don't trust them to play the Celtic way.

    Not convinced on Jackie.

I'd be happy with Morten tbh. Plenty of experience etc.
