Yes he did. He managed them for half a season before moving onto Bolton, who lay in the bottom 3.

He then saved them, & burnley went down.

Owen Coyle had a short but good spell at Burnley. Didn't do it at Bolton and definitely didn't do it at Wigan after Martinez left the Club in good order. He was then followed by Rossler who took the same Club from 14th to the play-offs. That doesn't read well for Coyle.

As for waiting for the right job to come along, in today's modern world it is well known that when a Manager is sacked, the exit Club is duty bound to pay the former employee his salary or lump sum equivalent until he gets another managerial position or until his original contract runs out.
On 8th December last year, Dave Whelan said of the Owen Coyle exit payment,
"It costs me getting rid of any manager, they all get a contract and they get a certain amount of money when they get dismissed and we have to honour the contract. It'll be somewhere in the region of half a million pounds," Whelan confirmed to BBC Radio 5 live Sportsweek.

I would suggest that Owen is not short of a penny after exiting Wigan,so can afford to wait for the right job to come along. If the rumours are anywhere near the mark, I just hope that Peter only offers him a 1 year rolling contract. Anything else would be just plain daft.

Twitter going mad over the Coyle/Nevin talk, with rumours surfacing that Nevin has released a statement saying he would be interested in the managers job.

Just read an article about wieghorst, his management record is very good and he was probably the main factor to swanseas good football.
    I'm sticking a 10 spot on him.

Harry Rednapp ?????? Jeez the beer must be flowing tonight.

We couldn't afford his lifestyle, wages, transfer fees etc. He would need an Assistant just to set his GPS to find Perth, Inverness, Paisley etc. He brings a backroom staff almost as big as some Clubs 1st Team squads.

OK, take a deep breath and back to the real world..... as I was saying, surely not Owen Coyle

Sky Sports news saying Martin O'Neil giving his blessing and advising Roy Keane to take the job if offered it, that'll be plenty for Dermott Desmond, * * help us.

Not feeling the love for Pat Nevin, why is this? The man knows the game inside & out,,, * he even had time to check out what certain fans from a certain club sung during games before getting back to work as a pundit during the time another clubs fans sang bad stuff!!! Coyle n Nevin, the dream team:rolleyes:
