We will never play like Barcelona in the SPFL because can't afford players that can break through a ten man defence. It's just a fantasy football dream. Tony Mowbray tried it and every manager knew how to stop him.

Barca style stuff isn't suited to the Scottish game. Mowbray tried and it failed.

I'll stick to us winning and hoof ball, than attempted good football and failure.

    You speak for yourself.
Owen Coyle would walk barefoot from London to Glasgow to take the Celtic job.

You sound like an 80 year auld granda for * sake.

'Naw never mind aw that poofy passing pish. Just hoof the baw up and heider it in the net. As long as we win'

Na * that. I'd much rather a young manager with vision and an ambition for the club who'll attempt a decent brand of football in the process.

Mowbray didn't fail at Celtic because of the style of football he wanted to implement. He failed because he tried to completely overhaul the squad in too short a space of time.

We tried that. In Neil Lennon.
Lenny could only take us so far and then he was found out in Europe and Cup games.
Coyle is smarter than Lenny, and would probably with some decent investment behind him take us a little bit further down the road.

Lennon found out in europe? Winning away games, last 16, qualifying for the group stages at every time of asking. Aye he was * right enough.

P.s. Do you remember Celtic 2 Barca 1

    This.

This is the reason Scotland is light years behind in in youth development. Especially us and the Huns. Win at all costs from youth up. No style of play. No flair no excitement no long term vision. Just win. Doesn't matter how.

We desperately need a manager that can create a philosophy/style/way of playing football right through the club.

We have a free run in Scotland for the foreseeable future. I can't see the zombies ever competing with us ever. We really need to start becoming a club that can fling in youth players.

The fans would need to change a bit as well. The moaning anytime a pass goes astray or if a youngster makes a mistake. The whole club needs to buy into it in the way Ajax/barca have and give young players a chance to learn and a chance to make mistakes. This is our best ever opportunity to set something in stone.

We need a manager that can lead from the top.

Celtic would be a 'marvellous job', says Owen Coyle

Owen Coyle says managing Celtic would be a "huge job" after the 47-year-old emerged as one of the bookies' favourites to succeed Neil Lennon.
Coyle was linked with the job before Lennon began his four-year tenure, which he decided to end this week.
But the Scot, who was sacked by Wigan Athletic in December, was coy when asked about any renewed interest.
"Glasgow Celtic are a global club, there's no doubt about that - and of course it's a marvellous job," he said.

"Like anything else, the bookies' (odds) change very quickly. I don't think I was the favourite yesterday.
"I think people put two and two together.
"The bottom line is that it is well-documented that Celtic are my team and that will never ever change."
Former Celtic striker Henrik Larsson had been a strong favourite with bookies until his present club, Swedish top-flight outfit Falkenbergs, said he had rejected an approach from an unnamed club.
Now former Falkirk, St Johnstone, Burnley and Bolton Wanderers boss Coyle and ex-Celtic defender Malky Mackay, recently sacked by Cardiff City, are vying for the shortest odds.
[IMG] Malky Mackay has regularly returned to Celtic Park while working in England </SPAN>

Former Manchester United boss David Moyes, Dundee United's Jackie McNamara, Aston Villa's Paul Lambert are also near the top of a list of possible candidates.
Pressed on his interest on BBC Radio 5 live, Coyle said such distinguished names were no surprise given Lennon's legacy and the work of Celtic's present chief executive and owner.
"Regardless of people's perceptions, Glasgow Celtic is a huge job, it's an elite club," he said.
"If you go anywhere in the world, Glasgow Celtic are known, their jerseys are there.
"Peter Lawwell, Dermot Desmond, the owner, the model they have put into the club has brought them success and Neil Lennon's been a huge part of that as well."
Coyle thought that Lennon, with whom he worked last month on a television assignment, was capable of realising his dream of managing in England's top-flight.
"It's not been a secret that he'd love to work in the Premier League, as everybody would - it's the best league in the world," added the Paisley-born former striker who represented Republic of Ireland.
"We did a couple of European games for an Irish TV station and you could tell he's really evolved in the role and I think he's probably got to the point now that he feels another challenge awaits him.
"I've got no doubt there will be a very good job for him out there.
"If it's not just now, it may be over the summer or the start of the season, but he's certainly capable of managing at the top level."
