Paul Hartley? He's only been managing for three years. Too soon for him.

Jackie McNamara? Three years as well. Too soon for him too.

I hear Tata Martino has knocked back Malaga. Maybe he's waiting on the phonecall from big Pete!

It is sad that the only guys ever mentioned these days are old players or people who are known to have supported the club. What happened to the best guy for the job?

I'll be gutted if we go for anyone British, Irish, or with any Celtic connections whatsoever.

For once I hope the board go for someone foreign. There's loads of good managers who, if we showed the slightest hint of ambition, would be interested in the job.

Bilic, Spaletti, Laudrup, Ranieri, Hiddink are experienced and most of them are unemployed just off the top of my head. A small French club have just hired the first ever female manager, who incidentally used to work for Celtic, why are we always so narrow-minded in our outlook?

Why must every Celtic manager have a connection to the club?

I want someone foreign who will bring a completely new style, plus a foreigner is likely to be tactically better as British managers, even the best like Fergie, always relied more on their demeanour and man-management than actual tactical brilliance.

I'm sad to see Lennon go but this could be a really exciting time. This appointment is arguably the biggest in Celtic history.

I'm making a point when I say that. If you read back through the thread you'll see I was arguing with a few people who thought that the job offer would be too soon for Larsson, despite the fact he's been managing for almost five years now.

I said yesterday that he would have been the natural choice, with him knowing the players, the set-up and so on.

Apparently he's moved back to Sweden though, and the general belief is that he cannot return for some reason.

I believe that it will be Oscar Garcia.
Don't know why, but he would have an idea of European football (which we need to master) and is available straightaway
