For him to get a call up now he'd just have to get the head down and win that place back in the Norwich team or some other Premiership team and perform to the level we've seen him before.

Because coming back here he has no chance of making his dream of playing for England come true.

    Sad but true.

There's more of a chance of him getting a call up by playing football rather than sitting on a bench somewhere, whether that's Norwich or anywhere else.

'no chance' isn't strictly true when you look at someone like Rickie Lambert. From Rochdale to Liverpool and England in the space of 3 years.

When guys like Austin and Vardy are in and around the squad he always has a chance but he needs to play and score regularly.

He was here for 3 year?:smiley-laughing002:

Longer than any other of our recent stars barring Forster. Hardly him bursting the door down to get away as soon as he hit a bit of form was it?

He gave us 3 seasons of good service and great memories I don't begrudge him for moving back to what he would see as the best league in the world and an opportunity to double his wage.

No-one could have foreseen that it wouldn't go as planned.

The bitterness from some folk on here is incredible. Fair enough if you don't want him back for footballing reasons but I don't know why you wouldn't. He is better than anything we have and proven in Europe. 7 in 19 is better than most other strikers we could target and better than anything we currently have.

Before anyone comes in with the "Whit aboot wee Leigh Griffiths, the wee man's worked well hard to get where he is". I'm not denying that or taking it away from him. It doesn't mean we can't look to bring in someone better or perhaps even someone for him to work with occasionally. Imagine a front 2 of him and Hooper? RD might consider that now and again.

I'd be alot more comfortable with a rotating 3 of Hooper, Griffiths and Ciftci.

But it's all different now for Hooper than before. No matter if he does well in the 6 CL games a season, they'll(English) will still pound on the fact he he didn't make it in the EPL so isn't good enough.

It's simple to me, if he wants to play for England he'll need to knuckle down and win his place back and perform in there beloved top flight division because so far in it he's proved he's not up to it.

A don't think moving back to Scotland is in his best interest. And maybe not ours if his attitude towards the playing his football up here is the same as the last few months of his time with us when he wanted away badly.

As I said before he had 15 in 23 in those last few months. How is that not in our best interest?

As I said before Hooper is a very goal poacher, great instinct at being at the right pace at the right time. That didn't go away.

But his general performance and attitude was diabolical in the last 5 months here.

Not interested in all this "aw he wanted to play in the PL and no for us" pish.

He's better than what we have, and he's a proven goalscorer. No brainer if he's available.

I don't agree with that at all but fair enough, if his diabolical performances for us results in being able to have a record like then a fully motivated Hooper under Ronny should be something else.

And as you've said yourself, he would suit this team perfectly.

But will he be fully motivated? Nobody knows but him. But a don't think he'll come anyway because it'll scupper his England dream.

Ps.. On top of that he's playing in a weaker team than Lennons, will he do as well as before? Probably not. It he'd still do well.

It's down to what you think of Ronny's ability to motivate players, I think it's a strength of his.

Possibly but we have a lot of chances, we make a shitload of chances, as you've said his clinical side doesn't go away, he'll score a * load in this team.

Hey guys new poster here, I can't understand why some people Are against this move because he moved to England, the man had one last chance to ever make his dream come true which is playing for his country, he may have possibly got a call up while still here at paradise but the odds were stacked against him because of the English bias towards our league and team, he went down to Norwich and failed but if we could get Gary back here with a good number of games under his belt I believe he could reach the same heights as before or even higher under Ronny :50::shamrock:

Griffiths is scoring every game nearly so a don't think he'd out score him.

A don't want us to sign Hooper I'd rather get someone better if possible. A know that's easier said than done but as I've said he's not much of an improvement on what we have(Griffiths).

He does have good attributes to help this team but then Griffiths has good some good ones doesn't have like pace energy and headering.

Hopefully the scouts have a few targets in mind.

That's where we'll leave it because as you know, I think Hooper is several classes above Griffiths.

Would absolutely love this to happen. Far better than anything we currently have, and we know he can do it at the highest level for us also.

Interesting as i'm sure he said that he needed to move as well because of the quality in our league, and that was with old firm games. I'd take him back in a heartbeat but he was desperate to get away so it'd have to be for the right motives..

If he has realized he's made a blunder and the grass isn't greener, then great. If he is thinking about coming back up on loan, banging them in and stirring interest and getting his stock back up for an English club to come calling next year, then no thanks..

I'm unconvinced by the rumour, although it's easy to see why it's being mentioned, and also whether the player would even come back..

Already seen loads of Norwich fans suggesting a cash plus Hooper for Van Dijk deal.
