A think he'd be worth 3 million but my point is there no much difference between him and our best striker La Thumb.

Both are great goalscorers and then have some different qualities. Griffiths has pace and brings more energy to the team and can head the ball and can score unbelievable goals from tough positions, while Hooper is more clever and can hold the ball up well with better link up play and good passing.

But if you mind right Hooper was poor at playing the lone role at the start then grew into it. Griffiths could do the same. He's improved at it already for me.

I'd rather we kept the 3m for Hooper and put maybe another 1-2 million more and got someone better that is a much better than Griffiths and make a bigger difference to the team.

Don't ask me who, the scouts should be looking if were are looking for a striker.

Where is that going to come from though?

He's tried and tested and we know what he can do. He is a striker that can be relied on to take that one chance in a game.

Griffiths can finish but it can be sketchy sometimes as we seen on Wednesday.

No he's not:56: Like a said in a thread yesterday a mind him missing his fair share as well. And he went missing in a lot if games.

As far as I'm concerned we need a better striker than Hooper who isn't much better than what we got. So no point wasted millions on him.

For a few million we won't get much better.

    Sad reality.

Your probably right. But we don't need him. He's no really better than what we got. And Griffiths is 3 years younger at 24 so still improving

So much overrating on here of Hooper. Can't even get a game for Norwich.

Yet some people think he'd come here and make a massive improvement on the team:rolleyes:

I was never one to rave about him, I knew he had his flaws. However his record speaks for itself.

I'd still take him back if given the chance, even if in an ideal world I'd love us to move on and get someone better.

I think he'd score even more in this current formation though, the amount of chances we create now is probably even more than under Lennon. Even with Griffiths playing there are times I sit and think "I wish Hooper was in that box" because he is still the better goalscorer, for me.

The Griffalo will get you goals but I'd still prefer Hooper. That's the long and short of it, really.

Is he though? Aye Hooper was more a predator, most of the time he was in the right place at the right time, but let's say he has the ball in the corner of the 18 yard box... So a tight position, a couldn't see him smashing it in the net like Griffiths can. Griffiths has a lethal left foot and can score goals Hooper can only dream if.

Griffiths scores goals out of nothing. When it didn't even look like a goalscoring opportunity.

Well agree to disagree, you would like Hooper back and a wouldn't:50::icon_mrgreen:

Right now I would say he is but that could change if he can match Hooper's record both domestically and in Europe.

Time will tell on that one.

As you say agree to disagree.:50:

Griffiths has matched his goal record. Just look up there career stats, Griffiths has better goal to game ratio.

None the less a don't think would come back here again. Not because it's Celtic but in the end he just couldn't wait to get away from the SPL. His last 5 month or so he didn't look interested/happy.

Hooper scored some vital goals for us though and managed to get 7 in 19 games in Europe, which is a good ratio at a club like ours.

If Griffiths can manage to get a few vital goals in big European games then I'll worship his thumb heed forever, though.

I don't think he'd come back either by the way but I wouldn't say no, that's what I've been getting at.

Well, every player has his flaws, no-one is perfect. His weren't major though in the grand scheme of things I suppose because he scored goals. However that was a reason I felt why alot of fans ignored the criticism when he played below par.

I thought he could be quite lazy at times, he didn't always offer as much outside the box(his link up is better than Griffiths but in terms of being a goalscoring threat), his work rate wasn't always great and he wasn't always involved in games as much as Griffiths can be(harassing the defence, taking pot shots, using his pace to run the channels). However that could always be countered because you knew he could pop up with a poacher's goal any minute. He had a good turn of pace but isn't nearly as quick as Griffiths once he gets going.

Don't get me wrong I loved him for the goals he scored and as I have already stated, I'd bite your hand off to have him back. However I wasn't one of those fans who couldn't stand to hear a bad word said about him.

I'm not comparing but even the best would not be in a game but still stick it in when presented with a chance. Henrik :50:

His attitude wasn't always spot on, noticeably towards the end, in my opinion but I agree he wasn't perfect, if he was, he'd never have played here. For the money we paid, unless pulling a rabbit out hate, he's as good a striker as we can get..

    Agreed.

He is a born and bred goalscorer at the end of the day and I'd love to have him back, regardless if he * me off at times.

In the same boat, I rate him highly, not going to deny that, but he did used to annoy me at times..

No thanks . Lets just look to evolve , find ourselves a real gem of a centre forward . We have done it brilliantly for other positions in recent years ( Forster , VVD , Biton , Wanyama ) so hopefully we will strike gold up top soon enough .

Normally I'd agree with you as prefer to "evolve" also but have you seen our recent record on strikers that we hoped to "evolve".

Initially I was against this but slowly it's starting to warm for me......

    You 2 need a room?

I would welcome him back, he would have to prove
himself again though & he would realise he made a huge mistake going.
