He might as well pack his bags just now then in my opinion. If he isn't allowed to build his own team, and implement his philosophies, then it's a pointless exercise bringing him to the club in the first place. If the board weren't prepared to give the new manager money to spend, we might as well have brought in Owen Coyle etc. We would have seen a 4-4-2 played then.

we must keep kris commons he is the 1 player who can score from outside the box, when teams come to celtic park and park the bus commons can shoot from anywhere. i think this is a big problem for us as the longer the game goes at 0.0 the worse we get but commons shooting from all angles can cause defences problems.:celt_2:

He accepted the job under those circumstances though, he will get minimal funding and we all know that. Which is why using what is available to you to the absolute maximum is a must.

I would imagine he would be working under the same circumstances as Lennon, having to sell to bring in. Well, we did sell big in the summer, but he hasn't been allowed to spend the money brought in. I can't remember exactly the figure, but Lennon spent on average roughly £8-9m per season I think on bringing in new players. Deila has spent £2.2m.

3m for Guidetti is all he'll get.

Which makes it not the same conditions as Lenny. Going into this season Lenny left, after meetings with the board and telling the team he was staying.

It's not that big of a jump to imagine he was expected to work under those circumstances.

I think Samaras going played a part also, because that was taken out of Lennon's hands, as was the sale of Ledley in my opinion. He might have felt like he didn't have enough control over the team. Maybe sick of seeing his best players sold and having to replace them. It doesn't necessarily mean that he was told he wouldn't be getting the same budget to spend.

Those players going were part of that in my opinion and we already knew that in advance. Was it not Ambrose who said that Lenny expected to see them for pre-season training, had already lined up Deila as his assistant manager and then done a complete U-turn?

And then Deila comes in, we punt Forster and spend a pathetic amount of money and then get some loan deals in. It all adds up to Deila's not going to get a lot of backing. Especially when we know Deila was pretty * * far down the list to get the job in the first place.

Maybe. He did bring in his fair share of utter dross, no arguments from me on that front.

Bolton confirm interest in Celtic midfielder

Bolton Wanderers manager Neil Lennon has confirmed he is interested in signing Celtic midfielder Kris Commons.

Lennon worked with Commons when he was Celtic boss and the 31-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season.

Commons reportedly wants a new two-year contract at Parkhead but has so far been offered a one-year deal.

"Is there interest from us? I know Kris very well but whether we can get a deal done there is another thing," Lennon told BBC Radio Manchester.

"I think there is other interest in Kris. It wouldn't surprise me because of the quality of player that he is, but I know Celtic will do all they can to keep him there as well."

The former Stoke, Nottingham Forest and Derby County midfielder scored 31 goals in 46 games last season as he was named PFA Scotland player of the year.

Lennon also confirmed he is expecting a couple of departures from the club this week with midfielder Medo Kamara reportedly close to a move to Israeli club Maccabi Haifa.

"We're hoping there is a deal done there," Lennon added.

"There is a bit of interest in Jay Spearing from Watford as well.

"They are two good players, but we feel we are top heavy on centre midfielder and we're looking to enhance the squad in other positions now.
"He [Spearing] was down there yesterday having a look around and we had a player form Watford looking around, but that deal is far from concluded at the moment."

I know this Delia coming in as Lennon's assistant has been heavily mooted before but I have a hard time believing a young manager who had just won the Norwegian championship and was getting his first crack at Europe would have been happy to come and play second fiddle with us, just doesn't wash with me.

I think Ledley was always leaving but Lennon wanted Sammy to stay.

He was 100% going to be the assistant, Lenny's confirmed that, Roy Keane said when he was offered the job we had an assistant manager already in place. It certainly wasn't John Collins.

Ledley said throughout his full Celtic tenure to sign him up, he said in his opening interview for Palace he didn't think he was leaving until we accepted a bid for him because that tells a player he isn't wanted.

We all know what happened with Sammy. Lenny wanted him, Lawwell said talks were ongoing, Sammy said he'd never been offered a contract.

It would have made sense for Deila to sign up as assistant manager if he wanted to break into British football. It's almost impossible for a manager of a Norwegian club with no experience in the UK as a player or manager to land a job in the UK. The only example I can think of is Egil Olsen who failed at Wimbledon, but he only landed the job because the owners were Norwegian. Ronny got a lucky break and good for him, and hopefully good for Celtic too.

I think we were hoping he would be the manager after Lenny. Lenny leaving stuck a spanner in the works of that plan.

Yeah, but he played in England. Henning Berg too. Ronny was a fairly decent player in a very mediocre Tippeligaen, he never had a big name as a player, even in Norway.

We might have been looking at him, no chance imo he would have accepted the role, would have done nothing for his career. The only way I think he would have taken it is if he was promised the managerial role when Lennon left and promised that Lennon was leaving soon.

Ledley done the same thing with Cardiff, kept stalling on his contract offer until it ran out. We called his bluff and sold him at the last possible moment.

The Sammy contract is where the disconnect happened.

I'd take Lenny's word and Keane's collaboration of it over your opinion that he never. Do you believe the assistant we had in mind and were going to force upon Roy Keane was John Collins? Even after Ronny's very public search for an assistant manager and that Lenny and Keane are just making up lies about Ronny being assistant manager?

Nah, we shafted Ledley. We thought he was an absolute given in terms of a contract because he wanted to sign and we fannied about and left it too late, we should have offered him an extension 18 months in when he kept saying he wanted to sign. String the loyal ones along, it's the Lawwell way. Whether that be Sammy, Ledley, Kris Commons, * even as far back as wee Jackie. Not to mention he done the same to Stokes and Izzy who just happened to sign it. Done it to Lenny several times as a player who also accepted it.

It's just the way we do business. We penny pinch over security.

I don't have any faith that Ronny is the one who decides that.
