Dump is quite extreme but it's not the place it once was, definitely survived better than other towns.

last time i was there was in 1982 and it was a shithole then.
Thought Morecombe was better and only about 20 miles away from Blackpool.

Feel your pain. Used to live there, * dump of a place man.
It's like they spent a ton of money on tacky * back in the 70's and just haven't spent another penny on it.
Place is so run down it's scary (not in a feart way, just *).

I live just outside Blackpool, and I work there. The place is heaving during Easter & Summer holidays. It's a place for kids. We get plenty of stags & hens, but they're usually pretty underwhelmed by the nightlife.

Yeah they sorted out the seafront a bit, but it's desolate during the out of season months.

It is very run down, and it will take more than a lick of paint to change it.

Scarborough on the other hand (or coast)is a vibrant seaside resort.

When was Blackpool ever nice? It has always been run down and tacky as far back as I remember.

You did used to get a good night out though, but that seems to have died off too.

About 15 years ago the pubs and clubs used to be packed. I was there for weekends the last couple of years and most places were near empty.

Years ago it was hard to get somewhere to stay. Now lots of B&Bs are all boarded up.

There really is little reason to go these days.

Not Been in last 5 years ,last time was a Stag Do and it was a bit off a Blur

Used to go every year when I was a kid with my parents and loved it

My old man and mum still go every year and take my kids at Sept weekend for Illuminations

I thought they had spent a lot off money at the front

I think once the older genarations pass by, it will be dead on its * and be like Whitley Bay with the Tumbleweed growing

I'm from Preston, not far from Blackpool. Yeah it's certainly not the nicest place! As a kid it was alright, but only because of the amusements and the theme park. Can never understand why it is so appealing to the Scots though, whenever I go there most of the football shirts worn are Sevco ones, and a few 'tic tops. There's a lot better places to visit in Scotland compared to Blackpool!

I Have horrible nightmares of Blackpool and surrounding areas.

Bumping a train down there, Buckfast, poppers and ecstacy.

Noticed the amount of Sevconians when I was there last year as well. Pretty sure the Huns have some sort of day out down there every summer.

Yeah I know they have a supporters club in Blackpool. Blackpool has traditionally been the orange/unionist part of Lancashire, Preston has a lot more Celtic fans/Irish nationalists.

Only time i head down to Blackpool is when the Blackpool Shamrock CSC hold their end of season dances, usually a cracking night, other than that the place is a dive, remember being in a bit called the Jaggy Thistle only to realise it was a big sevco bit when i went in, think its burned down now

Never been before and I never will go. Place has always looked like a dump. Looks grim and depressing. Last place in the world I would go for a break
