I'm not entirely sure how people think he should be punished. Club fine, done, dragged up in front of the disciplinary board, ban. For me that's enough.

I was amazed with the hatred shown in January when we signed him. So what's the deal. Everywhere he goes, does everyone on the street walk up to him and call him a racist? Give him lots of * and that kind of thing. Surely that's punishment enough.

He'll have that aimed at him for a long, long time. So there's punishment that's a PR stunt and their's punishment that you maybe don't realize. That will be any time he's walking down the street, people trying to wind him up.

That's really the punishment he's gonna get, so i doubt he'll be forgetting what people think of that song in a hurry.

Few people learn a more accurate worldview through punishment. Has anyone actually tried helping this guy to see why his behaviour is unacceptable? Because from his point of view he's been brought up in an environment where such views are widely held, he clearly has no knowledge of what being a refugee entails, he sees all his mates doing these things and he sees a bunch of other people getting up on their high horses and punishing him for something he doesn't really understand. The obvious conclusion for him is that they're unjustly punishing him so he feels bitter and picked on and at best learns to be more careful about video cameras.

I know Griffiths is stupid, but I think we would be doing him a massive disservice if we suggested he was so idiotic that he didn't know singing about refugees in a derogatory manner was considered a bit of a taboo in this day and age!

I'll say it again- a 23-year father, who is paid thousands of pounds a week, who has been trouble before for racist behaviour, and has no doubt been warned about his conduct when he signed for a club like Celtic cannot be offered the benefit of the doubt. He's too stupid or too hateful to be offered that, in my opinion.

Well maybe the best way to deal with it, is to sell Leigh Griffiths and go sign a refugee as his replacement:)

Seriously though, let Peter Lawell worry about this issue. He's the guy that will make the decision and he won't take any * from Leigh Griffiths.

I'm not asking you to give him the benefit of the doubt. His behaviour was racist and unacceptable. I'm asking you to endorse doing something constructive about it rather than just washing our hands of him.

    That's the worrying part!

A guy who is involved in criminalising and banning the club's own supporters for singing Irish songs which no right-minded person, with any grasp of history or politics would find offensive, will no doubt try and sweep this incident under the carpet and give Griffiths a slap on the wrists.

Lawwell is a hycpocrite and a * to boot, but I still don't want to see the club forced into sacking a player just because the media has decided to vilify him.Griffiths behaviour was unacceptable but a heavy fine would suffice and even an apology would go a long way too.

The statement Lennon made about this kind of behaviour should mean that he is sacked.

But I don't think your suggestion is constructive. The guy's clearly a moron, who at the age 23 can't understand why singing about '* refugees' is unacceptable, and obviously has no interest in figuring out why he keeps getting punished for being racist!

There would be no conduct which would warrant a sacking if the club choose the 'education route' every time. Employees would get away with murder!

OK, mate. We're repeating ourselves now I think. Time to leave it and people reading the thread can make their own minds up. I respect your opinion but disagree.

Oh and I never suggested we should always choose the education route you fly *:smiley-laughing002:, I said each case should be judged on its own merits.

I hate it when somebody quotes your posts before you have a chance to correct your spelling mistakes. :54:

He needs to stop being a mutant, but same time if he scores over 30 goals for Celtic like I think he would he can do what he wants within reason. nothing wrong with a personality.

The guy is uneducated and doesn't know much better as that kind of behaviour is probably normal for him,to represent a club like celtic and be caught doing that is pretty poor by his standard, with any luck this will make him grow up.

How do you know ? If it was so clear cut why haven't the police charged him ? Have you got a clearer video than the police or Celtic posters? Could you put this wonderful video and let the rest of us see it .

Brother Walfrid founded the club . He certainly did not see himself as a refugee, he regarded himself as someone who tried to help the poor people of Western Celtic . He founded Celtic as he saw a football club as something that would bring the people together . Bro Walfrid never asked anyone whom he helped what religion they had or what nationality .
Your user name " made in Ireland " is unfortunate as you give Ireland a bad
Reputation with your stupid comments .
