Providing the reports are accurate then he should be sacked.

The guy's an absolute scumbag, and should never have been allowed to pull on a Celtic strip, and he certainly should never be allowed to pull one on after this. A football club formed by immigrants and refugees for immigrants and refugees should not tolerate such a character playing for them.

As an aside I don't think he's a good enough football player to play for Celtic anyway.

I had no problem with the Hearts are going bust...that to me is fine.
But when you start singing songs like the refugee nonsense then that's a totally different thing. When you play for Celtic you represent Celtic no matter where you are. Fair enough go out and have a couple of beers. But acting like the regular punter and leading choruses of such songs should not be acceptable or tolerated.

As for club action I opted for fine and apology. We've literally just bought him so financially we won't rip up his contract. It will take time to sort this out, it'll never be forgotten but can be mended.

He had a few beers and sang a non-PC song.

That's it and nothing further should be done.

The PC at all costs brigade need to realise that they cause more problems than they solve and some people will say/sing things at a football match after a few beers that they probably wouldn't outside a ground in the "real" world. Get over it.

I see were your coming from, and i'm not condoning his actions. but all he's done is get drunk and, in with a crowd mind you, sings an offensive song. now we have all been there, sitting in the pub with your mates, boozing then the songs start, and you join in. thing is, most of the songs sung in a supporters pub are offensive to someone.
seems a wee bit hypocritical for some people asking for him to be sacked.

Why don't you follow your own logic about us singing Irish songs.

My problem is that Leigh Griffiths is clearly having a laugh and a wind-up and is almost certainly not a racist.

Certain members of our fan-base actually do believe the bollocks they sing about...

I would find it utterly absurd if the Celtic support- many of them descendants of immigrants and refugees, who pride themselves on having principles and politics of anti-racism, immigrant and refugee welfare etc- would/could accept this * receiving nothing more than a slap on the wrist from the club.

he should be punished heavily and have him donate his wages to an anti-racism charity, sacking him is a little bit harsh I think.

Of course some of us have been in that nick and done stupid things....but we don't play for Celtic. Footballers have a different code of conduct than the regular punter. They represent a global brand and can't be acting like your regular Joe down the boozer getting pished at 12.30 singing songs about a former player being a refugee. I would get my collar felt if it were me and I work in a shop....I'm not performing for a massive club on tv and in front of tens of thousands on a weekly basis.

I won't begrudge anyone a pint or two.....but when you play for Celtic football Cub you have to act to the highest standard and simply shouldn't be singing like that.

Again, I don't want him sacked. But he needs telt. You're no playing for Hibs, or Dundee anymore. Celtic have the highest expectations and can't behave in this manner.

I do think though that this might be an eye opener for him. He'll get his baws toed for this and might screw the nut. I feel Lenny could be the guy who can get him focused. He's a good man manager and Griffiths might listen

this right here. He's at the biggest club he'll ever play for and in Scotland you need to be on your best behaviour or even the littlest thing will end up in the press. This of course isn't. it's a distasteful song and I wouldn't expect any Celtic player to participate.
    Hopefully it's lesson learned
