    Kayal and Samaras out.

From the SPL i wouldn't mind us getting Andy Robertson from Dundee Utd as back up for Izzy and i like the look of Ryan Gauld.

More happy than I was, yes. :icon_mrgreen:

Seriously though, just because a player is taking time to get back to form after a significant lay off doesn't mean he is * all of a sudden.

These kind of threads pop up all the time on here and usually I stay clear of them as there tedious as * but it does give you a clear indication on posters I think haven't gotta clue about the game and what players bring to the team..

    Oh, I know.

Sometimes, though, a player never recovers and achieves the status they once did.

I have a feeling that's gonna happen with Matthews.

Do I have proof? No. That's just my gut-feeling.

It bothers me to say that, too, because he's unquestionably one of my favourite players.

He's only 22. I think maybe we need to see what we can get for him now, before his value potentially decreases.

    Just a thought.

    I hope I'm wrong.

I think Forster will be off and while we will miss him, I wouldn't mind too much if the money made goes towards the team.

I really hope we can get another full year out of Van *. And I think Kayal may be looking to go - I could take or leave him to be honest.

Elsewhere, if we can get close to money back for the likes of Balde, Pukki, or Boerritger I would snap their hand off (but little chance we will). Mouyokolo is a waste of space so would happily let him go. Basically if we can undo some of the transfer mistakes made this season for as little loss as possible I would be happy. Samaras clearly isn't interested so he should go as well.

As regards signings, I think we have made it clear that we have no intension of spending money on anyone proven at a level we would like. So I think to avoid inevitable disappointment we should resign ourselves to young unknowns, and Scottish players.

Thing is, with a bit of ambition that need not be that bad. Go and get guys like Gould, Souttar, and Robertson from Dundee Utd. Spend millions now as an investment for the future. Rather than bringing in guys who aren't good enough to play for our competitors, we should be hoovering up the best young talent on our door step. If we can get someone like Snodgrass because he wants to come back to Scotland then we should, or James MacLean because he is a fan then go for it. If we can get a striker who isn't * then we should. But we should be looking at young home grown talent and we should be building something beyond just flipping talent and gradually getting worse.

Our objectives are clearly based on winning in Scotland and trying to scrape into the Champions League (and likely get a doing when we get there). That being the case, we should at least try to do something special with young, Scottish talent while we are strolling the league and scraping into Europe. Invest now, get them on big contracts, and really try to progress a team with players who might stick around for a few years, while also sticking money back into the Scottish league.

I'd rather see some of these young Scottish players stay with their clubs and get meaningful game time, rather than coming here and warming the bench.

Maybe buy and loan back, but it's important they keep playing first team football. They also have European football (EL qualifier(s)) to show what they are really all about. I would imagine we will keep tabs on them and see how they do in that environment.

Your right Sean, Mathews can't match big Lustig for speed, and I think he's more suited to our midfield, he's a hard wee * too, and gives his all. :50:
