I'm actually starting to recognize most names on that list go back 3 years and I couldn't name more then 4 players off Dublin :smiley-laughing002: best not let the scotts know Mccarthy is playing for Dublin as well be a pure meltdown

Paul Galvin has come out in support for professionalism in the game how would it even work just inter-county players getting paid I'd imagine. would Dublin players get more then louth players because we make more money

This would ruin inter county football unless their was a set wage for all counties. What would Dublin finding jobs for Michael Murphy and James O'Donoghue getting them clubs in Dublin then offering them a wage higher than their native counties could afford.

I think inter county players should get a set wage per game and that wage would have to be the same for all counties perhaps paid by Croke Park with counties contributing to this fund.

For a 2nd time. He never really regained his form after retiring prematurely.

And I don't think they would allow it anyways but all, players should be paid the same no matter what county even if Dublin probably earn more then every other county put together they would probably have stricter rules on switching county's if there was money involved

Stricter rules would be overcome when money is concerned. It would have be a rule where you were born in the county or have lived there for more than 10 years.

Exceptions could be made for Scottish born players:icon_mrgreen:

Has there actually ever been foreign born players other then O'halpin (the cork hurler his name is well to hard to spell) and I'd say a 5 year rule would be fair enough and would give smaller county's an advantage rather then the big ones

Not really. Michael Murphy had just gone 23 when he won the all Ireland and was at college in Dublin. Give him a job for 2 years the promise of a contract and then he becomes a Dublin player when he has reached his peak. For me 10 years would be a very minimum

Michael Murphy is a rear case how many other GAA players living in Dublin would get into are panel ( I'm not trying to say because Dublin are great and all just there's nobody else really) and most GAA players are * come 30

Didn't want to start a new thread but noticed Australia play Ireland this Saturday with GAA International rules and wanted to ask what exactly does International rules mean?

It's a combination between the Aussie rules and our version of football. They play with an Irish ball, so rounded, but the pitch is designed like it's Aussie rules. 15 vs 15. Usually pretty aggressive - if you've seen Aussie rules before, with the drag-tackling, it's got that, as well as the big hits from Irish football. They only play one test, now, as opposed to a couple, due to the interest in the games fizzling out and too many players getting hurt.

    I love it! :icon_mrgreen:

We are not at the races here at all. Need a big improvement in the 2nd quarter.
