Pretty much this. Plus they have Xavi and Iniesta; two players that used to make me smile and itch to get onto a football pitch. Watching Messi is a joy as well.

"I like how the club is run"

Made a complete mess of signing Neymar Jr. So much so that the transfer originally meant to be around £48.6 million (a complete lie by the way) "went up" to £71 million (the real figure), when all the details about paying Neyamr Sr and co. some £35 million came out. Then add on the £11 million tax "contribution" on top of that to try and hush the embezzlement investigation.

It's hard to take a claim that the club is well run seriously when the president Sandro Rosell has to resign under a cloud of shame while under investigation for embezzlement. The Neymar Jr transfer saga was the biggest transfer battle of this century so far, against their biggest rivals and some how they managed to make a huge mess of it. Doesn't fill you with confidence.

*Investigation still on going, Rosell denies all charges* :tongue1:

"in terms of producing players through the academy, La Masia"

This is true is a sense but they still have to pay loads to bring in players. The £106.8 million they paid for Neymar Jr; the €69.8 million (plus Eto'o) they paid for Ibrahimović, £35 million for Fàbregas and David Villa and the £23 million for Alexis Sánchez. Plus their over-reliance on South American players for "flair".

I've always seen Barcelona as being the Forres Mechanics of Spain with Real Madrid more like Clachnacuddin F.C.

Having spent time in both Barcelona and Madrid I have always had much more sympathy with the Catalans politically and that has always had me lean more in the Barcelona direction especially as Real Madrid are very much the establishment club.

rather see Barca win over Madrid, just because their fans seem to welcome us over there and when they come here they seem like a good bunch.

That, I've found that the more we play Barcelona, the more some (few?) fans lean towards disliking them,. Almost in a rebel against the norm sort of fashion. It's too common and popular to be a Celtic Supporter and a fan of Barcelona, so some seem to have shifted view points.
That said, not all, and some of the guys have solid and legit reasons for preferring one club over the other.

For me, I've always liked Barcelona, as a club and a city. Love the Catalonia movement, and love that region of the world. Push me to be a fan of a club other than Celtic and that's the one for me.

He said he prefers how the club is run in terms of producing players through the academy, which is true. Obviously not all of their players have come through the academy, but plenty of them have.

As for the little history lesson on the Neymar situation, there's no need. I live here and saw it in the papers every day it was going on in great detail :icon_mrgreen:

Jakey juice. Mental 7.5% white cider. Can get 3 litres for about 3 quid. The connoisseur's choice.
