look at Swansea and Cardiff and how they are getting a better class of player with the money this league makes we are a bigger club than them so how far can we go and if a European league was started we would be ready for the big boys

    Exactly.

Many Celtic fans have a funny way of switching patriotism on and off.

When the idea of moving south to fulfil our true potential is mooted it's "* off, i'd never represent those English *, we're a Scottish club and should stay Scottish!"

But then when someone talks about the Scottish national team a lot of the time it's "* the SFA. Cheating hun *. They never helped us. We're Celtic not Scottish!"

No one would call Celtic an "English" club Swansea never get called an English club. Celtic would be representing Glasgow as that is where they are from and that's what the media would concentrate on. No one in their right mind would say something like English club Celtic lol if we played in the EPL or in Europe. Celtic get called a British club but they get called that already by the English media as do any club in Britain.

    Depends who you ask :smiley-laughing002:

I would of thought it would make it more difficult, but as has been said, Uefa/fifa view us as a seperate country anyway so from there point of view I guess it wouldnt matter. I would of thought though it make us even less welcome by the fans down there though...........

    So in short no difference........

I have the same view on this as yourself. I think that if we did go independent that we would be ever more less welcome by the EPL than ever before.

I certainly can't see us all travelling down every weekend to away games either.....yes the clubs value would triple but the heart of the club would be lost IMO. Then again, how many times can the scottish leagues be reconstructed before they just admit defeat and face the fact that they're *.

They keep reconstructing the league changing a gazillion tiny details; but they have yet to try any deep reconstruction because they don't want too much to change as when it comes to the good of Scottish football, they only want it if it doesn't interfere with their gravy train.

They haven't, for example, even considered what polls a few years ago showed most Scottish fans wanted: a biigger SPL with everyone playing each other twice.

It makes me feel heart sick when I constantly hear how Scottish football will always be *, when in fact it's only actually been * since we started listening to the money men who have created this massive gap between the big 4 leagues and the rest in the first place. How about we stop listening to them (for all the good it's done us) and start listening to the fans?

You mean like the way some Celtic fans are happy to stand at Celtic Park and sing "England you're a *" but when the slightest whiff of a chance for Celtic to go and play in England comes along they are happy to lift their skirt and bend over?

    You're right, that is hypocritical.

Celtic would be the biggest club in the world if we unlocked the riches of these leagues.

Imagine man city/ utd , liverpool ,arsenal visiting every other week to fight for the title .

The stadium wouldnt cope . Season tickets packages would be sold quickier than a garth brooks concert. You would be on a waitng list for months to get a sniff of a seat at paradise.

The cross border rivalry would add extra spice to these games.

Sky knows this and i beleive it will happen within 10 yrs

And yet fans down South would have you believe we have always been * :56:

Calm down, it's not skirt lifting at all you nugget. I'd rather see us become the best team in the world than get our "skirt lifted" by far bigger teams with far bigger budgets every year in the CL.

But no, you're right we should just stay up in * Scotland and wither away to * all.

p.s. i've never heard anyone sing that at Parkhead tbh.

Can't see games against Alloa, Dumbarton and Queen of the South instead of Abrdeen, United and Motherwell boosting attendances or indeed helping in any way tbh.

Would freshen things up a bit though, currently we play the likes of Motherwell, Hibs, Kilmarnock, Aberdeen about 40 or more times a decade. :54:

Im 23 and Celtic have played Hearts 101 times in my lifetime.

20 team SPL ? Non starter. It would dilute an already * product even further. We can't even get a sponsor for the league and people want to expand it :smiley-laughing002:

That's without getting into the distribution of prize money. More teams = less money for each team = further dilution of product.

Still can't beat a trip to Tynecastle though.

Never been to Alloa and the first time would be a bit of a novelty but at the end of the day I'd prefer 2 trips to the likes of Tannadice.

In what way is that hypocritical? Surely you understand the context of the term 'England' in the song?
