That Benfica 3-0 win was only about 10 months ago but 6 of the team would no longer be first picks.

Boruc

Telfer Caldwell McManus Naylor

Nakamura Lenny Sno Maloney

Zurawski Miller

IMO we have a better 1st 11 now with the exception of Shaun who IMO still needs replaced. We definatley have a better squad.

As we say in Russia: A ball is round, a field is square, grass is green...

that's all we know untill the match and that's why we like football...

Your English is really good. There were two other Russian guys here with perfect English and I asked then that too. One was brought up in Liverpool and the other said it was from listening to American music.

Yeh 100% agree we're strong in all positions now except left midfield, Maloney was outstanding that night against benfica

In my case it's all thanks to school education and some practice of live contact with people from Norway, the UK, Australia and usa.
Besides don't forget that the culture of football support comes to Eastern Europe first of all from England.

<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" />Ede, you did not read this thread very thoroughly, and now you are accusing me of being stupid. Littlekennie said “we will show that the quality of scottish football is better.” That's what prompted the joke from *.txt. Littlekennie did NOT say that the “football quality of the Scottish league” is better (and that would still be debatable because a good quality league shouldn’t have just two championship contenders almost every year). I am glad for your team that it does have 5-6 Scottish-born starters (you may also note that Spartak has 5 Russian-born starters consistently as well), but take Celtic and take away 2 key non-Scottish players Nakamura and Boruc and your team suddenly becomes more Scottish and much less competitive :86:

And what was the Carvalho and Vagner Love example for? Even as a Spartak fan, I have to acknowledge that the above players are the best offensive players in the Russian championship, but the two awesome players represent Brazilian football not Russian.

Keltoi, excellent post! Very knowledable and unbiased. I simply can't argue any of your points because they are presented so well.

Ok, whatever...i have no mood to argue on that topic anymore...i've said enough and I rather let the lads do the talking on Wednesday.

P.S. read closer i already mentioned that by "Scottish football" usually meaning is Scottish league....i never said littlekennie said it...i said thats the usual interpretation.

But no hard feeling to anyone i may have said any bad things to.....I will be glad to give you advice on beating Rangers when Spartak play them in the UEFA cup

Looks like you agree with me that Celtic would look hilarious playing Scottish football without its non-Scottish players (and to be honest, Spartak wouldn't look that great without its international players as well)

Other posters were talking about Scottish football, and then you jumped in claiming that they, actually, talked about Scottish League Football. I just didn't know that you were responsible for "usual interpretations" on this forum.

Now, this is good smack. It's funny, witty, and not offensive. :50:

you cannot judge the quality of the scottish league on the nationality of the "player of the year". you only have to have a look at the winners of this award in europe to justify this. ede's posts make perfect sense, and i congratulate him on making these observations :p

Where did that come from? Did anyone say that the Scottish League is weak because its best player is from Japan? Sorry, mate, but this statement is absolutely irrelevant to the "Scottish football vs Scottish League Football" argument.

P.S. By the way, nice pic of the first British winner of the European Champion Clubs' Cup :50: That Celtic was, probably, Scottish through and through...

Spartak are not the champions of the Russian League (Spartak hasn't won a championship since 2001, in fact), and the current lead from the second place is only 2 points. So, your point about the Scottish football (Scottish League Football to be more specific) being better than the Russian one is moot.

P.S. Will you support any Scottish team in the UEFA cup? Even Rangers? :86:
