The logic is, actually, very simple. Try to read the *.txt's quote backwards: "The man whose favorite Celtic player is Nakamura said that the quality of Scottish football is better." Do you get the irony now? Let me break it down for you if you still don't. Nakamura (the best Celtic and Scottish Premier League player in 2007) is Japanese, and it's ironic to mention "Scottish football" in the same sentence for obvious reasons. You simply didn't get the essence of the joke, But that's OK.

Nowadays, football fans still tend to generalize when they compare one country's football to another (for example, Russian and Scottish football) But considering the fact, that the team squads are so multinational, it is probably erroneous to refer to Spartak as a representative of Russian football and Celtic, in turn, as a representative of Scottish one.

When we talk about national teams than it's a different story, of course. But Celtic has players from England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Japan, Poland, Holland, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Australia, Czech Republic. I mean, come on, what kind of Scottish football you are talking about? :56:Yes, Celtic is a Scottish club, but if it beats Spartak, it wouldn't mean in any way that Scottish football is better than Russian. If your national team qualifies for Euro 2008 (which will most likely not happen considering your super tough group), and the Russian team doesn't then you can proudly shout that your Scottish football IS better.

Some more stupid comments again!! We were talking about the quality of the football in Scottish and Russian Leagues. And may I also note that our starting lineup usually have at least 5-6 Scottish born players in the starting 11. Thats more than a lot of European teams.
And usually if talking about the national teams, notbody says Scottish football or Russian football is better. Just Scotland is better or Russia is better. So I makes quite obvious sence to people who understand proper English grammar. Thats why there on the part of Szuwar!

And also the best players in Russia are Carvalho and Vagner Love. Both are Brazillians.

oh man of course i understand the irony. but this irony have no sense.
    read ede's post. he's 100% right... :50:

one more thing. this irony would have sense if his fav player was Russian :86:

    You didn't want to find a logic that's why you could not. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
But listen to me now, guy who likes to use a word "stupid" without any reason. <o:p></o:p>
The category "scottish fotball" is surrounded by some stereotypes. And nakamura is one of your players who destroy these stereotypes.<o:p></o:p>
For example, Spartak's leader Titov being the most popular player of the Russian club can be also named the continuator of FCSM firm-style. <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
That's why it's rather funny for me to listen about superiority of scottish football when someone is admired by the game of "unscottishstyle" player.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
And the other side of this discussing:<o:p></o:p>
    If somebody wants to compare Russian & scottish leagues I can post UEFA rating (refreshed 17.8.2007 <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" /><st1:time Hour="1" Minute="59">01:59:20</st1:time>)<o:p></o:p>

First of all...if you read my post...i said scottish football is in reference to our league and the teams in it. However the teams play and whatever style they have is up to them. When we mention "Scottish Football" we do not mean "Scottish people playing football" or how "Scottish people play football", we are in fact speaking of the country's domestic football competitions. Just like with English football we're talking about whole EPL in general and Russian football as whole Russian Premier League. Not the people, the league competition.

For the record...favourite player doesn't mean team leader...

not exactly sure what you mean by team leader, but if ur talking about captain then our leader is Stephen McManus. *SCOTTISH*

And your speech on "stereotypes" is complete nonsense...Beckham is now the best and most popular player in the US. Does the fact that he is most admired mean that his team LA Galaxy are no longer American or play American Style football. And also what do you mean non-scottish style. The manager and whole way the whole team plays dictate the style of the team's football, not one player. A large part of our team are Scottish or Irish players, so even if we have one Japanese here we still play Britsih style football.

Who cares about style...all i care about is us kicking Spartak * on Wednesday.

*! Still can't find the logic... except the statistics of course...
but i can see (AGAIN) how cocky are Spartak fans. They even reach the level of nationalist... everything what's Russian is the best... no wonder they don't want foreign players in their club :\

don't mix up nationalism & patriotism...

particularly, ur situated on the forum of the team which in the name have nation "the CELTs", which symbols and colours are closely concerned with Ireland and which confrontation with Rangers has religious origin.

Of couse the Russian top league is better than the Scottish Premier League. There is no point in disputing that. The Russian international team is also clearly better than Scotland's. We only have a population of 5 million. But remember two things:

    1. Scotland may be small but Celtic are a giant in Scotland and in the top 5 clubs in the whole of Britain and are a very big club by any standatds.

    2. I dont think there is really the big gap in quality you may have seen in the 1st leg-we had only played 2 games then and there were new players making debut or 2nd/3rd game only etc.

    3. We will play our normal game at home and we will have played 5 games instead of only 2 when we meet again. We will not be the defensive team you saw in Moscow. We are by tradition an all-out attack side.

    4. We have a lot more recent CL experience than Spartak.

    5. We have the best European home record in Europe. We are basically unbeatable at home, even by top European sides.

    6. You are a good team but 1-1 was a bad result for you. Your best hope is 1-1 and extra time or 2-2 or something. Thats the only way I see Spartak going through. If we score first you will have no chance.

It will be a really exciting game. I cant wait.

And there are only some but considerable reasons for FCSM to win:

    1. Spartak did not lose 10 last games (7 wins).

    2. Pavlyuchenko has 8 goals in the last 5 games in the league and 1 for national team.

    3. To tell you the truth FCSM is not so motivated in this win as Celtic. We have another priority aims for this season. We want to be the first in Russia this year and to win * cska ... That's why our players will be slack in Glasgow and will play for own pleasure I think.

    But nevertheless:

It will be a really exciting game. I cant wait (c)

"To play in own pleasure" means to feel comfortable, not to be nervious and to play the game they know and they can. I think you'll get a pleasure from your lose too because of the game FCSM will show in Celtic Park.

Mate you can talk all you want about whats gonna happen, but the truth is that we don't know untill the night. To defeat us at Paradise will take an almighty effort, and I just dont think you will be able to cope with us after your first leg showing. We never played anywhere near the level we can perform at in that one and believe me you will be meeting a totally different Celtic this time around.

In the first leg we played kind of how we played against Benfica in Portugal, no where near our standards, difference is we lost to them 3-0 while we drew with you 1-0. At home it's a different ball game and we beat Benfica at home 3-0 so I'm confident for Wednesday night without being too cocky about it.

Better teams have come and failed and hopefully Spartak Moscow will be added to that list on Wed
