They will be singing the soldiers song in their native tongue and 99% of Celtic fans don't actually know the real version of the song.

Naw they will most probably be Manchester United and Liverpool fans. Seeing as they are by far the two most popular football clubs in Ireland.

Football clubs could be somewhat differed as they promote a sort of pan-nationalism.
Nations on the other hand, as in this instance, create xenophobic nationalism. We will see plenty of instances of this in this fixture in the coming years. The more nationalist and British Scotland supporters will call the Irish things like 'taigs'.
And the Nationalist Irish will resort to using such things as 'pro-Brit huns'.

Can someone tell me how that is good for the people of each said 'state'?
It creates a divide among us, we are all one, we are slaves to the commercial hicks in each 'state'.

Bet you you'll see more Celtic tops in the Ireland crowd than any of these two clubs.

Why on earth would they wear any of those tops to an international game against Scotland at Celtic Park. If it is indeed played at Celtic Park of course there will be people wearing Celtic top.

You can't deny Man Utd and Liverpool are more popular in Ireland than Celtic.

Indeed true, in my travels across the land you would easily see 10-1 of United and Liverpool fans compared to Celtic fans.
    The effectiveness of ruthless commercialization.

That is what it is. It is not a slight on Celtic.

I know what I meant was there would be no chance of them wearing Man Utd or Liverpool tops to an Ireland game. Celtics green and white is a much more appropriate choice.

The games against Ireland will be great occasions anyway. I don't know too much about Ireland but Scotland are definitely an improving side. It would be great if the game was indeed at Celtic Park.

Yup but it's a Celtic thing with Ireland as well, which is what I was mainly getting at.

Wee Gordon Strachan vs Martin O'Neill, Scotland vs Ireland at Celtic Park :56:

It would be a great occasion. Scotland winning would just be a bonus for me (being Scottish). I want Ireland to qualify as well. Let's just hope Poland flop.

It'll be interesting, that's for sure. It's yet to be seen how Ireland will perform under O'Neill. Poland can be hit or miss so we need to rely on them missing most of the time.
