We made him take a fuckton of jags and play through injuries that needed surgery.

Is that true? I always thought he himself insisted on it, like the one last season where he wanted to play CL football. If what you say is true, there might well be something in this idea floating around that our medical team aren't up to scratch.

Earlier this season people were saying he was playing his best stuff for Celtic. Now he isn't the player we signed :43:

If I remember correctly he didn't exactly set the heather alight in his first season and was eventually replaced by the midfield duo of Robson and Hartley. He didn't really start performing until Lennon became manager.

I can tell you right now that idea is floating around every club on the planet. I have heard so many fans of other clubs complain about their medical teams it is untrue. There is nothing in that whatsoever, just bullshit speculation.

Different medical team and Strachan and then Mowray viewed him as to important for the squad. It's why his ankle became * and eventually his hip. You can also see he passes with a different technique than in his Hibs days, due to playing with a * right ankle for a good two years.

Well he must have won player of the season without really performing.

You said he didn't start performing until Lennon came in. He won Player of the Year under Gordon Strachan.

This is quite an interesting debate for me. I have to admit I never really rated Brown for a long time. I wasn't exactly Butch, but I didn't really understand why we played him. My memories of him are coloured by that and I don't really know how good he was until a couple of years ago. My suspicion with Broony is that you have to watch a lot of games to see what he brings. At least I started rating him when I started watching a lot more live games on joining this site.

I can vaguely recall that season. We were so poor at times I wouldn't be surprised if Brown was indeed the stand out player.

Hold on. Was that the season when Gordon Strachan won manager of the year when Walter Smith won the league and Scottish cup ? :smiley-laughing002:

Two defeats to a very good Aberdeen team and we're all slating our players. Total joke.

Aberdeen won that match because we were down to 10 men.

The thread's about Biton, Johansen and Griffiths. I believe at least two of them will prove to be really good signings. Too early to say for sure however.

We need to get Pukki and Balde out the door though unfortunately.

I don't agree. Milan got some bad publicity with how they handled Pato, but I follow pretty much all US players outside of MLS and it seems like they never deal with injury problems. I peruse a ton of forums because of this and never see the same concerns that others and I bring up here. I watch the Norwegian top two leagues a lot, and my favorite squad never seems to have injury problems despite not having many players. The only American I've followed who has openly complained about physio work was Claudio Reyna, who said that when he was at Rangers the most sophisticated training equipment they had was a teapot. I think there's a culture at the club, maybe in Scotland more generally, where you need to bulk up (which can cause muscle strains) and, if you are injured, that you need to stop being a * and "get back out there."

Aye, I believe the awards were dished out when we were 7 points clear then we * it up. That was the season were McDonald and Hessilink just run out of steam, play in general was of a high standard though. We just couldn't finish to save ourselves.

Watt, Rogic and Atajic all being told they aren't fit enough is a damning indictment on us.

We could have a midfield three of Ribery, Xavi, & Iniesta, and Lenny would still shoehorn Brown into the team.

I was never a big fan of his, and that was when I was going to games every week. My opinion of him has changed, because I now feel that he has grown into his position. He used to do a lot of silly running in my opinion. I still don't think he is the best technically, and his passing is poor at times, but when he keeps it simple, he is a very effective player for us. There is clips of him showing he has very good technical ability, but you could find the odd clip from almost any player in World football to try and prove as much.
