CELTIC are eyeing up Portuguese keeper Ricardo as a possible replacement for Fraser Forster.

Parkhead spies watched the 31-year-old keep a clean sheet for Academica at Belenenses in Portugal’s top flight at the weekend.

But Neil Lennon’s side would face competition from Sevilla and Hannover to land Ricardo, who has been tipped to win a place in the Portugal squad for the World Cup and is out of contract in the summer.

Celtic expect shut-out king Forster to be lured away this summer but Ricardo won’t be rushed into a decision on where his future lies.

He said: “I know about the clubs who have been watching me but that does not concern me.

“I am a professional and I just want to help Academica get as far up the league as possible.”

Too old. Does not fit our signing profile.

31 is hardly ''too old'' for a goalkeeper.

It's not a set in stone rule that we need to sign only youngsters. Sometimes - like the Keeper position, we may need to just go out and get a guy who knows what the * he is doing. Same goes for a striker to compete in Europe.

No thanks. Much more reliable options closer to home.

An experienced keeper is crucial for our champions league qualifiers if Forster goes in the summer.Id be happy if we signed him.

He might be at his peak but we like to sign younger players to sell on.

Nope. That's who I thought of when I saw the name. That was Ricardo Pereira. At Olhanense now.

:54: *, he was * hot back in the day.

This other guy doesn't seem to have played much for Academica according to his wiki, not much of a pedigree.

Don't see anything in this. I'd like to see Marshall as a replacement for Forster. If Cardiff go down, think it would be one we could get done. He's matured into a very reliable keeper.

I'd still like us to try our hand at getting Vito Mannone from Sunderland should they go down.

Marshall has just signed a new 5 year deal at Cardiff so might cost a few quid, canny see Lawwell forking out big bucks for him.

    No I haven't seen him play. What I was getting at is that IMO its too big a gamble to go for a GK who is 31 years old and as far as I can see never played outside of his homeland or for his country.Would much rather what I consider to be safer options in GK currently playing in the UK ;

    Jack Butland
David Marshall (probably only available if Cardiff relegated)
Kasper Schemiechel (if Leicester not promoted)
    Alex Smithies
    Kieron Westwood
    Anders Lindergaard

No thanks. Hopefully Cardiff get relegated and we re-sign David Marshall.
