Boyd has 168 goals in the league. Think griff is on about 70/80 iirc, he's scored 54 in 60 appearances for us in the league!

Surely more goals in the SPL than that? Unless Dundee and Hibs were both in the Championship?

Surely he has pull out Scotland squad and give his injury two weeks to heal.
We can't afford to lose him to bad injury

10 more in the league and he will be no 3 on the list of top all time spl scorers.

Obviously still a completely * footballer though.....

When are people counting the League from though?

Like it's not the SPL now, its the Scottish Premiership, the SPL was only from 1998-2013? before then I think it was the Scottish Premier Division for about 20 odd years and before then the Scottish Football League 1st Division.

Was going off this mate, few years out of date tbh as Both Boyd and McDonald have scored more since.

But going back to Scottish football leagues of all time it's probably Jimmy mcgrory?

Unfortunately for Griff this is the step up for his international career. I don't give a * either way about internationals. But he needs to join the Scotland squad. If he is injured WGS won't risk him. * love Griff. He will be an all time great.:50:

173 Stevie Chalmers (Celtic, Morton, Partick Thistle)

They're the top 25 scorers in the Top League of Scotland.

Just the most recent of the last 30 years or so McCoist, Robertson, Larsson and Boyd, the most prolific is Larsson.

    Larsson 174 in 221 games = A goal every 1.27 games
    McCoist 260 in 471 games = A goal every 1.81 games
    Boyd has 196 in 373 games = A goal every 1.90 games
    Robertson 192 gols in 488 games = A goal every 2.54 games

Griffiths has 85 in 140 games so far, so some way away from reaching that. Averaging a goal every 1.64 games though.

LEIGH Griffiths has revealed why he dedicated his sensational opening goal in Celtic’s 4-1 victory over Aberdeen to tragic young Hoops fan Kieran McDade, who passed away last week during football training aged only 13.
After the prolific striker found the net with a blistering strike from 20 yards, he sprinted to the other end of the pitch and held up a t-shirt which read RIP Kieran 13.
Griffiths was delighted by his strike, which fittingly came in the 13th minute of the match, and he hoped it would provide some comfort to Kieran’s family, who he had met before the match.
He said: “Anytime I get in within that range of 20-25 yards and I’m near enough the centre of the goal, I only have one thought in my mind – try and hit the target, and thankfully I put it beyond the goalie’s reach and it nestled in the net.
“The boys knew I had the t-shirt there. I was going to put it up the other end if we scored but it was just a fitting tribute to put it behind the other goal.
“Thankfully, I scored in the 13th minute which was the boy’s age. It was a real shame for his family. They came into reception and I have to give everyone credit, including the gaffer, for allowing that to happen just before the game.
“They came in and met the manager and a few of the players and they managed to enjoy the game and hopefully the wee man is up in the sky looking down, smiling that we got three points.”
Griffiths’ goal was just reward for Celtic’s early dominance but Adam Rooney cancelled that out in the 33rd minute, before James Forrest fired the Hoops back in front before the break.
The champions didn’t play with their normal fluency in the second half, with the rigours of the recent European exertions perhaps taking its toll, but Scott Sinclair’s penalty and Tom Rogic’s sublime free-kick sealed an emphatic 4-1 success over last season’s runners-up.
Griffiths said: “Everybody is talking about Celtic and Rangers but Aberdeen are a decent side. For them to come down here and for us to beat them 4-1, even though we scored two late goals, we dominated large parts of the game and they never really caused Dorus any problems. The back four coped really well and going forward we were always looking like a threat.
“We have me, Moussa, Scott, James, Patrick, Tom and Ryan (Christie) who was on the bench, it’s formidable how we can go forward at pace and hurt teams and it’s great to have those attacking options.”
Rogic was awarded Man of the Match for another superb showing, which he capped off with a fantastic free-kick in the dying seconds.
Griffiths said: “We as players know what Tom can do. It just seems like he glides across the pitch. His touch at time is phenomenal and it was fitting tribute that he got his goal today as his all-round game has been different class. He must have been disappointed not to start during the week but he came in against Aberdeen and got Man of the Match and rightly so.”
