Fact is like him or lump him he used his sick wife as an excuse to leave Celtic after all the cash had gone.

Im not an uber fan of O'Neil. He is great, he just gets a bit bored easily, could you say that? I dunno, either that or a bit lethargic with the job after a wee while. International management will suit him to a tee and I expect good thing in the new set up.

He wasn't overrated though, not at his time with Celtic.

Still prefer Lennon though, for some reason.

I don't think he would be able to work the same wonders with the limited funds that Lennon has had at his disposal in the last 3-4 years.

Yes those were great times, but by the time MON got here, he already had players like Henrik and Lubo at his disposal, and then on top of that, he was given a lot of money to spend on individual players. That would be unheard of at Celtic nowadays.

In some capacity yes, but I don't think as manager. He had his time and has got a big job on his hands for the forseeable future.

I voted yes but I think I'm happy with how things are now to be honest with Lennon and O'Neill with Ireland.

    This.

The guy cost us a fortune and to be honest underachieved. Losing not one league title but two, including a treble to Alex McLeish's Rangers was a complete joke.

I have a lot of good memories from the MON days. But, no. WGS and Lenny have both done better in the Champions League than MON done.

The Balde situation he left us with was * ridiculous.

    What a lot of *.

Like or not, the huns were spending silly money back then and had a great team, only winning the league from us on the last day, including one year when we had our eye on the UEFA cup.

Strachan qualified for the last 16 on less points than Martin achieved and the Balde situation could have been resolved by playing the * guy.

What's Martin supposed to say, nah I'm not going to spend this money you are giving me, because although I am just a football manager I can see the future and know that these contracts are going to cripple the club.

I honestly don't * understand some people on here, bad mouthing one of our greatest managers, some people even saying he used his wife's illness as an excuse to jump ship, completely ignoring the fact that he stayed an extra year after she took ill.

Some people on here need to take a * look at themselves.

Lot's of times when managers return to a former club, they fail miserably. Loved the man when he was our manager, but not too sure about him taking the job for a second time in the future.

Some of the Irish posters maybe aware that St Columb's Derry commemorate
their pupils who have excelled after leaving the college . Martin didn't have any
Recognition until the National Media started to query about ten years ago.
Martin had been ignored because he cheated in his GCE's and would have been
expelled if not for his big brothers reputation helping to get him transferred to
    St Malachy's Belfast .
Imagine been expelled, not many have made a live for themselves after been
    expelled at school .

No, don't think he should ever come back. I grew up watching his team, and I'd rather keep those memories than risk him coming back only to fail.
Regarding Gordon Strachan, I will never understand the hatred he has received from some people within the Celtic support.

It's disappointing that some Celtic fans would be happy enough to have
a con man , or a cheat as Manager . We would then have the same
Standards as The Rangers . That is putting success first and ignoring
    Honesty and fair play .
