Hrmm.....for me, his transition to a national manager, and the willingness (desire) to have less of a day to day role means he's moved on to a new phase of his career, while we have moved to a new phase of our future.

As I say, I've nothing but time for him and for what he's done for us. But personally I wouldn't welcome us moving back to him - in the same way I wouldn't GS, who I also have praised highly in the past.

Gordon Strachan did lower our wage bill, significantly.

I preferred Strachan, although I wouldn't want either back over Lennon.

MON had his era, and it will be remembered fondly. But it's over now.

I would too - of the two of them, he would be in pole position for me.

It would be interesting to see how he'd perform on the more limited budget compared to last time out. That said, one of his great strengths was always getting the best out of his players, something which we badly need right now. I'd have him back, still think he's a top manager. All academic though, Lenny's in charge and I fully believe he's the right man for the job.

I love O'Neill but I don't think teams should look back. I also don't think there is any chance of it happening unless he was given millions to spend.

Polls a bit more even than I expected it be. I would have him back once Lenny moves on.....if he ever does. One of the main reasons for that is Martin wouldnt allow his best players to be sold and replaced with utter *.

Imagine O'Neill with last seasons team and a few million to spend........my gawd.

With Martin ... that story with Peter Ridsdale and Leeds ... leaving, but then backing out ... if that really did happen, that's NEVER sat well with me.

It's his career, obviously, but it just seems like it's something he would do, is all ... glad he didn't, of course, but I've never liked that story.

I have known Martin for 45 years and I notice a big trend in his
career . Reaching Celtic was the pinnacle of his career and he
set about work with the same zealous and excitement as he did
when he joined Leicester City . After a season or so, he started
to hand over more and more of the reins to John Robertson and
Steve Welford . Martin knew he had spent the club silver and
disappeared as fast as he could , leaving a cash strap club and a
board that has acted in an austerity gap since . He went to Villa
and soon began his disappearing act and the players were going
mad and he got out before he was evicted by the players .
Sunderland didn't have happy memories for him either, to make
matters worse , his worker John Robertson , wasn't able to join him
and has since suffered a heart attack . Martin is the ROI manager ,
I think he is well suited to that role as he is very impressive in small
doses . If things go wrong he can always blame Roy Keane .
Believe you me, we don't want him back as manager .
