Thought this would be interesting, a lot of people completely refuse to talk to the authorities, where does your limit lie before you would report a crime? A lot of us see some sort of petty crime and never report it, a lot of people phone the police for the most trivial reasons. Where does your limit lie before then?

If there's a crime and I can't stop it personally I'll report it most times. I fell it would be selfish of me to do nothing.

What kind of crime though? That's what I'm trying to see, people loitering about? Drunk and disorderly? Or would it take a break in or assualt for you to pick the phone up?

Would never really report a crime, the pigs are useless and half of them are criminals themselves.

Bunch of goons hyped up on a bit of authority.

Street justice is the way :smiley-laughing002:

Sexual assault, murder... If someone was likely to be seriously injured and I couldn't help them, I'd call the authorities.

Think that's where I am but I've saw a few people take a right good tanking and not done it before... so I dunno, I think it would be any sort of sexual assualt or paedophilia.

If they're loitering then I'd probably leave them. Vandalism and harassing people would prompt me to tell them to * off before I called the cops. And obviously burglary, violence, murder etc I'm getting the rozzers over.

I don't know what people achieve in refusing to cooperate with the authorities if they've witnessed a murder or something quite serious. Unless you're protecting someone you know (bit of a moral grey area), why wouldn't you help bring the perpetrator to justice?

A lot of people in situations like that are scared of some retaliation coming back to them.

Yeah, I've seen that as well. I don't really know. I'd probably just get involved... if it's that serious, you're not going to wait for the police to show up. I think my attitude would be different if it were a girl as well.

If it sounds like the guy next door is beating his wife every other night, would you call the cops?

Another interesting question would be at what point would you personally intervene to try to stop a crime?

Unfortunately, I have no faith whatsoever in the police force that represents my area so i probs would never rely on them by reporting something to them.

Does telling some wee guys who are chucking stones at windows to get to * count as intervening?

He'd probably get off with it. Best doing something else in that scenario, I think.
