Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the police.
Such as whether they do a good enough job.
What force is best and things like that.
My stepdaughter is a Special Constable with Thames Valley Police.
I wind her up about it.
She knows my feelings on the police but doesn't argue, well not much, with me about my views on them.

    * them all. Anyone who actively seeks power probably hasn't got the right characteristics to control it.

If i hadnt said my stepdaughter was one you would probably have said ACAB :icon_mrgreen:

She does the job at weekends (for free) and works for the NHS and a Mental Health charity during the week.

Obviously there's the good and bad,but generally speaking I haven't had any good encounters with them (well once actually, when I was younger they let us keep our carry-out,even although they heard us singing 'if you hate the * polis clap your hands').

It's not unusual where I stay for them to randomly pull you over and question/search you,it's a complete inconvenience and an invasion of my privacy.

It's criminals catching criminals in my view, and that's having dealt with the police through work and as a member of the public.

Just * holes to be honest, especially in Scotland. All seem like guys that were bullied at school who now have a stick and a pepper spray and see this as a way to get their own back on a society that 'failed' them.

What is there not hate about some * with a badge and weapons who can stop you cause you look suspicious (if your young, or black or * forbid both) or can beat you up or even kill you and get away with it?

    * thing is I'm not even a exaggerating when I say they can kill you and get away with it.

ACAB, been stopped at random a few times and searched for no reason other than I'm young and a skinhead.

Thing that epitomises the police for me is my mum got assaulted in a pub a year or two ago, despite me telling her I'd handle it she went to the police only for her to be fined for breach of the peace. My mum's just a normal wee woman, obvious to anyone that she wasn't to blame - and all the witnesses except from the person that assualted her's partner, told the police that she did nothing wrong yet the Police decided the best course of events was to put a single working class mother £100 quid out of pocket for being assaulted.

They generally target the wrong people for trivial things.

I've never had a negative experience with the police.... All positive but I know that's not the case for everyone... I'd say on the whole they are fine...but every walk of life....there will be bams

Been stopped twice for trivial car things - side lights, going down a one way street even though there was no street sign.
On the whole though, i've never really had a problem with them. I have an uncle who's in the police and one of my best buds is too.

There are wrong people in the wrong job in all sectors.
