I would like this as the moral distinction between the Old IRA and the PIRA is infuriating at times.

Sure whos to say in about 20-30 years time there is not the same debate being had over the moral distinction between PIRA and Dissident paramilitary groups. As SF are well fond of putting down people that do what they once did! :smiley-laughing002:

Not that I'm in any way supportive of dissident republican paramilitary action

Agree with Adams for a change. The free staters need to start appreciating the sacrifices the PIRA made for this island.

No one will take him up on it. There's no debate within Irish history, there's the establishment's version of the events and then there's "cranks and terrorist-sympathisers". This is the way they prefer it.

Even if it did happen the other parties would condemn anything raised to the ground, they've spouted this hypocrisy for years and arent going to change their tune now, this is also true for a core of people on the Island who despise modern Republicanism in all forms no matter what you say to them.

It really frustrates me how ignorant people down here can be at times.

I think Sinn fein would be better off without Adams he's a liar and imo was involved in the killing of Jean Mcconville. Its very clear to me he was in the IRA but he still denies it.

Sinn Fein are the ones who should clarify their own position first, i would like them to also clarify why the so-called dissent republicans are as McGuinness called them: traitors.

Killing an informant deary me, that man shouldn't be in politics. She brought it on herself no sympathy from me she put herself at risk and knew the consequences of collaborating with the British, such like Emmet knew the dangers of his collaboration. If not sorted out many volunteers could have been imprisoned and killed due to the information she was providing. I have no sympathy for traitors. As of being in the IRA doesn't discredit his credentials as a politician.

I agree with you completely RE McConville. No sympathy whatsoever. She should have been thinking of her kids before she involved herself in the conflict.

However I'd have a lot more respect for Adams if he admitted his role.

I honestly don't see why he should be obliged to do so, if he did have any involvement. Should he incriminate himself to appease others? What about other volunteers that took care of informants should they all come clean, then where does it end everybody that's ever been a volunteer should come clean about being a member of an Army?

They used the excuse she was an informer to have a reason to kill her. All she did was help a soldier, you might not agree that she should have helped, but if we are talking about a real war then people should help soldiers who are injured like soldiers helped eachother in the world wars. I know a lot of thing the Brits did were disgraceful but for me too many bad things happened on both sides.

Suppose so. However I don't understand why he aggressively denies involvement and gets himself so wound up. Perhaps a simple "no comment" would suffice. I'm specifically thinking about him calling people such as The Dark liars.

Sorry mate, don't know where you got that nonsense from but that is severely untrue! :smiley-laughing002:

A man from where I am from pulled a brit from a burning car, yet he never got killed for being an informer. She was an informant and had been warned about her activities on numerous occasions. I would suggest getting your facts right about a situation before commenting on it

Never liked his attitude towards The Dark, who had supposedly fought along side him on numerous occasions and the dark has always known that Adams would be more apt as a politician and not a military figure. One of the saddest stories is the darks, completely outcast and shunned by the ones he once fought beside!
