If people are for our fans being criminalised I don't want them at our club either :56:

    Ah, apologies. Get you now.

It might do. There were Motherwell supporters and that at the demo in town last season so this will probably put the likes of them off. But I do believe the hypocrisy of saying Irish rebels = Bad and Scottish rebels = good needed to be highlighted.

Yeah, to be fair not what I'm angling at - what I meant was more what I hinted at before.....ie a lack of clarity of the point being made = reporting horrors = the general point being missed. You can't put a price on media stupidity / inaccuracy of reporting / dilution of a point for headlines.

The end result? A cluster *.

Bit unfair though. Banners all essentially have symbolic meaning that leaves a lot open to interpretation. I wouldn't want people to be put of joining the Celtic family because they felt the club was in some way aligned with supporting the IRA. I get that's not what the banner was about, but I don't think it's going to be so clear for the millions who will see it, glance at it and make up their minds on it.

    Agreed :50:

A banner highlighting Celtic fans being against the criminalisation of football fans is fine. As first glance though, this banner isn't that.

The entire away support belts out songs in support of the IRA. Always have and always will. Again, if this put people off they would probably be better off elsewhere.

    Fair enough, but I disagree.

I don't support the IRA and don't feel like I would be better of supporting a different football club because of it.

And fair play to you. Our supporter culture obviously didn't put you off falling in love with Celtic and there are many like you.

It's people who actively try to dilute the republicanism within a sizable section of our support I'm talking about.

I've asked this question several times but what did it look like to you?

FFS no of course not, this is exactly why I rarely bother posting on forums, everything has to be either black or white. I said it's probably time to move on from this stuff, which equates to me saying stop teaching kids about history!?

No just thought it would be intersting as I wonder if younger fans are more or less inclined to sing rebel songs and be into the up the ra crap.
Anyway if people didn't bang on i.e express their opinion it would be a fairly dead forum.

This is how the debate should be! Between fans...Rather than forced on us by the Club/the SNP & the Police etc.

Interesting point made the other night I seen, the support by consensus, & to a greater degree by the Green brigade, was slowly cutting down on the rebs...then the SNP brought out this legislation.

Green Brigade has done more than a lot in that aspect, stopping the Neil Lennon Provo chants and a lot of yhe more hardcore rebs.

One of the things they get no credit for.

Mind Dundee away in 03, the whole end belting the SAM song.

FS I mind the song choices of 5-10 years ago. Suffering * & that was when we got that award from fifa too haha.
