Celtic Park 5 Star stadium?

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Henke., Jul 31, 2007.

  1. Uefa have deemed it fit to call Ibrox (& Hampden) a 5 Star stadium, thus allowing UEFA Finals to be played at these grounds, whilst Celtic Park, with a bigger capacity and IMO better facilities does not make the grade.
Does anyone know the reason for this?
Should Celtic Park be a 5 star stadium?

Thinks it's to do with the amount of media rooms and the size of the dressing rooms. But i heard theres a revamp planned which should bring it up to 5 star standard.

  2. Yea thats right Graham

  5. Celtic have a plan to make it 5 star, its been in the works for a couple of seasons now.

Lennoxtown officially opened will boost us up to 4 star i think because of the fact the players get changed for training at CP.

Yea we have also have a problem catering for large media circuses

Getting the Commonwealth to Scotland which we get the government to improve the public transport (its all in the games bid) (i.e. the underground link) we'll be 5 star. Expanding the South Stand could happen if the games are gotten to Scotland as CP is currently down for hosting the opening ceremony.

  6. We can't be a 4 star because the capacity is over 50,000
Old trafford is a 5 according to your list man

  7. Well spotted. :52:

its amazing, taking into account the atmostphere and closeness to the pitchs i.e hampden and celtic park

  9. I think it is the insides which have to be upgraded to make CP a 5 star ground

  10. Aye awoke early this morning for once..
Does it really matter much tho do ye think??
As far as i understand it's up to the SFA to nominate the ground and sure they are just gonna keep picking Hampden so they get the money..
    Tis a cruel world

  11. I'm sure it's up to UEFA, no? Well that would explain how Morden Manor got in there.

  12. Think UEFA pick from a list of nominations made from each country's FA
    could well be wrong tho

Ah sorry i mean UEFA pick the 5 star stadiums which will hold a European final.Ye is right about UEFA deciding about stars

  13. the surroundings at cp dont help.... parkhead area is unfortunately a tip.

  14. :56:A mate of mine from Hartlepool rang me up one day last year to tell me he was at Celtic Park. He said it's a great stadium, but it's in the middle of * Beiruit.

  15. Anybody noticed when you walk out of CP the stones and bricks you nearly fall over . I sit in the Lisbon Lions stand and when you come out you nearly fall because of the bricks and rocks lying there

  16. Its is because of the sizes of the tunnels, take Ibrox for example their is a good 5 yards between teams when they line up at CP the teams are nearly touching each other. I dont know why this matters but it was in paper a few years back

  17. The area around CP is a bit of embarassment. If you`ve ever been to the Amsterdam ArenA you`ll have seen how to sort these things out.

There`s an area of grass behind to the Lisbon Lions stand. I would love to see a huge pub opened up there. Nothin fancy of course (I`m picturing a barn/aircraft hanger) as it`s only for fans goin for a pint before the game but if it had a capacity of a couple of thousand, the atmosphere would be great and would hopefully carry on into the stadium.

  18. I voted nail varnish, what does that mean?

Don't give a toss what star the stadium is for UEFA, what counts is what the atmosphere and views are like for normal fans and the capacity it holds.
