Reports of Ajax fans causing bother

And I think that's a good thing, people never really know what to make of Celtic, some love us no matter what and some utterly despise us, but the majority in Europe I would say are peculiarly intrigued.

I think that has saved us from a lot of trouble in the past, as although we have always been a hugely left-wing fanbase we haven't been in huge wars with every right-wing group. I've met massive racists who absolutely hate the huns and love us lol. Same way i've met Irish Catholics who actually hate Celtic and call us "plastic paddies".

It's not weird and I doubt anyone can seriously say we have always been a hugely left-wing fanbase, even now!

I hope what I have said is the case re muddying the waters as I really have no desire to be going abroad following Celtic and seeing an assortment of right-wing fascists from other clubs turn out to support us based on their belief that we are a catholic club. The stuff in Budapest was pretty gutting to see.

 

So what are they all saying over in the Ntherlands about this V?

Just been reading through some of this think metrobhoy got abit of unfair stick..
I don't agree with what he said entirely but we have to accept that some people are just not into trouble or get scared of confrontation..
I'd like to think that if I was getting a kicking fellow fans would help me out but it doesn't always happen,I myself would always help and not let another Tim get bashed infront of me and that's why I'm glad I wasn't in the dam now as I'd probably have got nicked..

Tbh. most Ajax fans I know I know are keeping pretty quiet about the banner. Must be just as embarrassed as I am. For the rest of the Netherlands I really have no clue.

I had to convince a lot of people I know about what really happened on the Dam too. Gladly the evidence (video´s-pictures) helped me in doing that.

My problem with his post is the naivety that has come through in a few posts from different people about what actually happened and how quick it happened. This whole "at the first sign of trouble I would have got out of there" pish is just rubbish because of the speed at which things happened. If he was in Dam square he would have been caught up in it to some extent whether he wanted trouble or not.

 

I'm not sure on every country but I've had similar and apart from a few threats and fines going up and getting knocked nothing has happened and this was years ago..

And it might not have been his choice to 'get into trouble' - clothed policemen sent my mate and 2 pals straight into the middle of Ajax ultras. Was a bit of a scuffle but they managed to get away.

 

I'd go back to Amsterdam to stand trial just so I could get my photo taken with the * Lamppost while I was there

 

Was just talking to my brother about it half hour ago and he said he didn't have any colours on and was with his missus at the time it all happened,he said 1 minute the square was packed and then next it was murders..
He was just on the outskirts of the square and basically saw everything from undercovers sizing people up to them getting done in and trams smashed..

He said from all his trips this was the most eery,said most were on guard and the usual party atmosphere in squares was abit more low key as it always looked like something was gonna happen..
Said he noticed a lot of Dutch meatheads half mingling into the crowds in the square then * off and coming back all day it was happening and they were not with any tims..

Fair enough about metro,what I was trying to get across was although it was naive as he wasn't there was that what he said was honest and a lot more people would be like him in that situation and rather scurry out the road than fight people..
