I agree with you. That's part of why winning the UEFA Cup while not on the same planet as the Champions League would still be such a great day and memory because it is still a very tough cup to win with some very good teams. Sevilla who have won the last 2 UEFA Cup's are a very very good side. While Werder Bremen who got upset by Espanyol in the semi-final last season are very good also.

For me I was looking at the question as not assuming we can just stroll through the UEFA Cup but more as if you are given the choice between winning the one and the last 16 in the other which would you take. So I was just looking at it from the hypothetical standpoint.[/quote]

Don't forget,Bayern Munich are in the UEFA Cup this year aswell.:50:

This is what happens when you dont get UCL money. It wont affect them on the field yet but the strain is there and its significant. Eventually if they dont get back into the UCL group stages it becomes unmanageable and then the problems really start for them.

Its something we shouldnt ignore, lets learn from them rather than find out the hard way ourselves

I think most of us have grasped the concept that there is more money in the UCL.:87:

It was to show how quickly it can effect the Old Firm's finances in a serious manner

Football is not about fecking money,it is about winning!

I would take winning the Uefa cup and being not as rich in the next year or two.Anyway they would make up some wonderful plan to merchandise it and milk it for all its worth. The strip sales would go through the roof and the DVD sales would be huge,it would account for a large proportion of the money lost.Look at 67 they are still milking that.

Anyway tis all pie in the sky really need to get a 'back to reality thread going'

It was a long time time ago but now it has become very business orientated and its no surprise that the more profitable clubs are ending up on top more often than not in the UCL.

Yea, we should be focusing on the start of the SPL, not this crap

That should be the case but the formula now reads

MONEY = BETTER TRAINING COMPLEXES =BETTER PLAYERS = BETTER BUISNEES = WINNING

I`d take winning the UEFA cup, over the second round of the champ lge anytime. We`ve hardly amassed a large amount of European trophies up to now

I'd be amazed if winning the UEFA Cup was bad for business.

Once again you cannot possibly know how much we'd make winning the UEFA Cup.

For some of us business isn't the only criterion we use to measure success.

Glad to see the 'diddy poll' isn't going your way.

    GIRUY.

there was a thead on here recently stating how much seville made for winning the uefa cup just there and how much money celtic made making the last 16.

Actually * for brains YOU are wrong

    1. We would make more than Seville did because we are a bigger club

    2. I think Dempsey meant Celtic made the 4.2million

    Keep trying son.

were bigger than seville? i wouldn't be so sure on that son.
seville are a BIG club. finished 3rd i belive who currently hold the supercup and the uefa cup which they've won twice in a row.

celtic may have a bigger support but there not a bigger club, son.

anyway, itsn't it time you got ready for school martin?

I would say Celtic are a bigger club, Celtics fan base is huge and unlike Seville we have European History by reaching more than 1 European Cup final and we also won 9 in a row ;)

Celtic ARE a bigger club then Sevilla but NOT a beter club then them.
Celtics fanbase is much bigger then theirs and that is what makes the club big
