No, we scout all players before we sign them, I'd hope.

I've agreed that we should keep our eyes on all leagues. It's just that some will have a greater yield than others. We should, therefore, focus our attention on those. It's really just common sense.

Scouting networks have to have parameters. If you cast your net too wide, you'll lose all the fish (terrible analogy, I know :56:). Geographic restrictions are the most obvious, most intensive and yield the greatest results. If we just go out to look for a certain type of player with no start point, just throw a dart at a map, then we're probably going to miss out on all of them.

''It is not his creed nor nationality which counts - it's the man himself ''

If it's good enough for Mr Stein, it's good enough for me.

You.... It's not a ridiculous thread at all. We're not talking about signing players based on ethnicity. We're talking about which markets are best for us to shop in.

Me.... ALL markets are..... which is why the thread is ridiculous.

My original post to you....what are you disagreeing with? All markets are there to be shopped in and to find the best buys in.....

To be fair, the OP is quite different to what I thought was being discussed. :52::smiley-laughing002:

Because I don't think anyone's suggesting a xenophobic signing policy. That's how it * missed the point. :50:

By the way, it was Maley who said it, not Stein.

So what is your point then? Because I think it's quite simple. Celtic should always try and sign the best players we can from within our price range, with the acceptance we will never again shop in the upper echelons of the EPL, La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga for new transfers; while we will primarily aim to identify players in their twenties with potential sell on value.

The OP is questioning whether that means actively only signing Foreign or British players. It's a ludicrous notion and it shouldn't even be up for debate.

In order to not drag this out. Answer this simple question mate.

Would you support Celtic Football Club signing either only British players or only Foreign players?

The thread took a different course to the OP, I've said as much. I didn't think that's what he was suggesting but if he was, it's absolutely absurd. Maybe I read too much into what was being asked. I actually agree with you.

No... Obviously * not. :56: I've said that all along. Like you, I made the point that we won't be shopping much in the top 5 leagues. I thought this thread was about something else (undertapped leagues). We agree on everything.
