Ah * it technically probably was a red, still harsh though and neymars reaction pretty much sealed it for the linesman/ref.

Mate the TV shows, without a doubt, that he kicked his back as well as his arm.

The more I have thought about this today the more I agree with you.

Whether Neymar made the most of it or not is really not the issue. If any player deliberately aims a kick at another player who is on the ground, then it is a red card. Sometimes they may get away with it. Sometimes the player may not react and so the ref decides to just ignore it. But you cannot aim a kick at a player, no matter how weak, and expect to stay on the park. It was stupid and it cost us.

It was harsh, but brown gave them the opportunity to make the decision. If he wasn't so * stupid there wouldn't of been a problem.

What aggravates me also, I was watching this with my Dad, neither of us are Scot Brown fans, quite the opposite, but at around the 55min mark, we both said, how well Brown was doing, getting stuck in, and bar Samaras, I think he was our best player on the park.

At his age and in his position (as captain) he should not be doing stuff like that.

At the time at the game I thought it was a deserved yellow. The replay made me change my opinion and it was a harsh red.

I saw it as a silly swipe which just tapped Neymar's arm not his back. Blatant cheating by Neymar and an attempt to get Brown sent off.

He's since apologised and that's good enough for me! We all make mistakes.

Shame really as he was having a very good game up till that point.

    I voted a booking.
The 'kick' asked the question of the referee, and you could justify giving him a yellow for it. However, the initial challenge he was getting yellowed for in the first place was never a bookable offence. So it's a booking, imo; nothing more. Can see the case for giving no card at all too.

Its pathetic the way players scream and roll around now.

Actually imagine, going by the way Neymar reacted last night that someone actually punched him in the face in the streets :smiley-laughing002: he's probably be down for 10 minutes and phone an ambulance "I have been punched in the face, I think I might be dying".

Never a * red card in it's life, Al.

Look at his approach to Neymar when he's on the ground - he's still in his stride from running back - no swipe, no kick whatsoever.

I see people saying he's a hothead? I tell you what his non-reaction to being sent off for * all shows his maturity, imo.

When we go to the Nou Camp if Brown is fouled by any Barcelona player no matter how weakly, he should collapse to the ground holding his face and roll over about 10 times to take the pish out them.

People can talk about "intent" all they want - the fact is the ref's intent was to merely give a yellow until moaning, *, pressuring and writhing convinced him otherwise.

Look forward to more of the same in the Nou Camp. Brown may have let himself down, but surely Neymar has also.
As has been mentioned by others, how you can have that much natural talent but still be a cheating, diving * is beyond me. I know he's a skinny * and so can't put up with much physicality, but if you're touched then just go down. That would be fair enough, why do you have to roll around like a cod in an empty bucket.

Reverse angle shows that it maybe grazes his back slightly. Still never a red card offence and definitely doesn't justify Neymar's ridiculous play acting.

That video shows he kicked his back and Sky have been running an even "better" angle of it.

If he didn't aim a kick, he would have been booked.

He did aim a kick, so was sent off.

I don't even see the need for a debate on it. It doesn't matter where, or if, he connected.

Neymars reaction doesn't even come in to it.

Brown aimed a kick and was, rightly, red carded.

I just hope UEFA go lightly, given the triviality of the offence and stick with the 1 game ban.

That's the angle I saw it from when I was watching it on TV here and yeh - it clearly shows him kicking out.

At first I was * at the referee, and even when I first saw this angle I tried to argue that Broony was just jogging by, but it's clear his right leg kicks out at Ronaldo Jr.

How has this spanned 20 pages? There's no debate. The idiot kicked out and was deservedly sent off. He let the team and the fans down big time.

    Yes :smiley-laughing002:

People saying no must be seriously biased. It was soft in the manner that there was minimal contact, but he absolutely did try and take a small kick at him. It looked that the kind of thing that he did in the heat of the moment and regretted it while actually doing it.

    Neymar's reaction was pathetic though.
