Atletico will need to go through tomorrow now to rescue the final as if they play Real Madrid both teams will probably be a wee bit open and have a go at each other.

Chelsea will just sit in and Real Madrid arent the best at keeping the ball could see it being one of those games where the defence just punt the ball away all the time and both teams are happy not to concede.

Guardiola is the 2nd biggest proponent of anti-football behind Mourinho, it's ironic they hate each other.

I've said it for years, it's just two opposite ends of the same scale. Jose gets everyone back behind the ball in their own box, Pep gets all his players on the edge of the other team's box, but neither side want to or try to actually play football or have an interesting, exciting game.

The best style of football is fast counter attacking and for this reason I hope Real beat Jose's Chelsea in the final after destroying Pep tonight.

Bale should be praised for his assist to Ronaldo btw, that was great selfless play from him. Robben, Benzema and Ronaldo would never have passed in that position.

They've been quite flat for the last month or so but you're overreacting there.

Why are people so desperate for Madrid to win? Seems to be a lot of dislike for bayern, I'd like to have seen guardiola win it after what happened to Villanova.

Was it Boateng who had Carvajal by the neck when Ribery slapped him ?

A lot of people saying that but what has really happened as tactics have evolved again and defensive teams are now beating creative possession teams just by sitting back.

Before 5 years ago no "big" teams really played that defensively Milan, Inter, Man U, Arsenal, Real, Barca, Bayern, Chelsea and that all played attacking or attacking ish football.

Then Barcelona started to dominate by keeping the ball even more and just putting teams under so much pressure and opening them up they were winning CL's and dominating. Then Mourinho Inter into a defensive mob and won the CL, Chelsea became a defensive mob and won the CL and now Real Madrid, Atletico and Chelsea, 3 defensive mobs are the teams going to the final at the expense of more flair teams like Barcelona, Bayern and Dortmund because the more Defensive counter attacking tactics work against them and favour the defensive teams.

It doesnt really matter what kind of tactics you use if a team is bring all their players back to defend as it just automatically turns into possession football because you dont want to be slack on the ball and make it easy for them to counter you.

Guardiolas teams over play. I don't see how you can say the manager of the best club team ever plays anti-football. :87:

I've been saying that for a while but i still fancied them to win tonight and maybe madrid to go through on the away goal..
Tactics all over the place, the 2 centre backs are too slow and don't compliment each other,in attack they are slow, laboured and still trying to walk it in..
Mandzukic is never a top striker, his performance against scotland coulda told us that..
Madrid diving all over the place and that portuguese * licking ronaldos * and giving them everything..
30 smackers down the swanny already

When Peps ticki-tacka style is in full throw its breathtaking to watch but as has been said the fulcrum for this was Xavi & Iniesta at Barca

When its just passing about and having possension with no end product it bores me to tears

Teams like Bayern and Barcelona don't set up to keep the ball for fun without scoring or creating chances, it's just naturally what happens when the other team have all their players back.

Like Real Madrid are playing all their players in their own half until the win the ball and break.

There is nothing teams like Bayern can do but then try and keep the ball more and wait for openings because if they try to hard to find opening that arent there, they will lose the ball more and more playing into the oppositions hands allowing them to counter.

What teams like Barcelona and Bayern probably need to do, is revert from a front 5 type of play back to a front 4.

They should go for 4 defenders and 2 sitting midfielders with the front 3 and 1 attacking mid and keep their full-backs around the half way line, probing more from deep positions. That wee move to a bit defensive, will then make the oppositions open up a wee bit more than them playing 1 sitting midfielder and scaring teams too much with 5/7(once the full backs go up) men forward.
