I remember everyone slagging Didier Agathe about his crossing, Mathews is younger he will learn and he will be a player every Epl team will be talking about next year...

    but I hope not...:50:

Are people still on a * downer about our chances after that performance tonight? The Bhoys were excellent and we were unlucky not to leave the San Siro with 3 points. We'll have a right good go at Barcelona, we can beat Ajax and we'll beat Milan at Parkhead, I've absolutely no doubt at all. We're more than good enough to play at this level so can people just get to * with their negativity? :icon_mrgreen:

    It's not going to happen:54:

We should have brought in a proper striker in the Summer who could get on to the crosses.

Usually Matthews crosses are good, thought he was a bit nervous tonight

I think come December we will look back on this night and see how much a point could have changed the outlook of the final group table.

We kept the ball well but failed to score. Didn't really come that close either bar one bit of genius from Samaras. It's the way Italian teams like to play unfortunately.

There's just nothing up top for us unless Pukki turns out good.

Our final balls were the end of us. Which is a shame as I've seen Izzy, Mulgrew, Matthews, Stokes and Samaras all play a great ball before.

We have players like that waiting to come in though.

They have arrived to late or have been injured to be fully trusted but they are there waiting to grab a place.

You would have a point if we didn't have the likes of Pukki and Boerrigter to come in but we do.

They will be the difference this year but Lenny (correctly) went with the tried and trusted tonight and it should have been enough to * a point.

I don't know whether I'm on a downer or not. I had to stay late at work unexpectedly and only got back for the last few minutes (didn't find a stream in time even then), so I'm sitting here desperate for someone to upload the game. :54:

The statistics suggest we were outplayed but most people here say that's misleading.

Exactly, the reason we budget without the CL is why we're so well-run. Also, we're not the best-run club in Europe. Tottenham are run exceptionally well. As are the lion's share of German clubs. The German clubs, in particular, have a huge advantage over us. They basically do the same thing we do (never buy high, use youth, focus on infrastructure, etc.) except they are blessed with a better league to attract players, better youth players, and more sponsorship money for just being in the Bundesliga than we would get from winning the Champions League. Our best hope is a pan-European league. We'd do very well in that.

It's more reality vs. fantasy than super fan vs. mediocre fans.

Mulgrew's deliveries are the most overrated things in the history of the internet ffs. He played well tonight but his corners were pish, and have been for a long time.

I dont know why you presume he wont score goals at this level. When given an opportunity, nine times out of ten he scores. He almost buried a free kick in the San Siro tonight on his champions league debut for * sake..

I think people are being stubborn saying he isnt good enough/wont score goals at this level.

Well lads, been reading the thread the last few days and thought I'd pop in cause I'll probably end up reading it again for the away game!

De Jong summed it up, very lucky win. Fluke of a goal and the second meant little really. The scoreline definitely flattered Milan and I thought a draw was a fair result but I didn't think we deserved to lose.

Read a lot about Matthews being criticised but I thought he played well and caused us some problems. Samaras was quite poor. Our 2 best players were undoubtedly Mexes and De Jong and Zapata had a fine game too but it says it all really when our 3 best players were playing at CB, CB and DM.

Missing a lot of key players but the talk about us missing 12/13 from the first team squad, while true, isn't accurate as only 5/6 at most would have started. Our 2 starting full backs are quite good and are a huge improvement on what started tonight and Montolivo and El Shaarawy will add creativity and pace to the team for the away leg.

Expecting yous to be well up for it in Glasgow and it should be a real cracker. Overall, a draw was the fair result in my opinion and we were extremely lucky to win. We were terrible but Celtic played some good football and showed that yas are definitely not out of place in the CL
