Russel Brand

Discussion in 'TalkCeltic Pub' started by Soul Rebel, Sep 9, 2013.

  1. Or, the poor people he is trying to help would have no publicity. Why would a comedian with many sell out shows, hit movies and chat shows need the publicity of helping people less fortunate than himself?

  2. One of the very few celebs that has a conscience.

  3. This. I have no doubt Russell loves himself and the attention. However he comes from modest background and I think he has good intentions.

  4. To continue selling out his shows etc. First and foremost it suits him.

  5. It was clear what the reporter was insinuating and any refusal to answer could easily have been twisted by that kind of hack to appear like tacit confirmation.

  6. wow the poll is even anyway :smiley-laughing002:
He doesn't bother me, but I don't think he's particularly funny or anything.

  7. Personally I think he's genuine. I don't think the Sun shines out of his *, for example I don't agree with that phone call he and Ross made to Andrew Sachs; but I do think that, while very far from a saint, he's basically a decent guy with a razor sharp mind that he is putting to good use these days.

If people have to be whiter than the driven snow to fight for social justice, then we'll be waiting a very long time for change because most demonstrations would consist of a couple of trappist monks and a few random old ladies.

  8. I've enjoyed a few documentaries he did.

One was on how drug addicts are treated by the system and it was something he had experiences of.

He was saying how the idea seems to be to just give heroin addicts methodone, which they then become addicted to. Making people addicted to methodone isn't good in the long run, but it obviously looks good for government statistics that there are less heroin addicts then.

I can't stand him. He's about as funny as an itchy *-hole.

  9. Is this the same guy who talks about injustices and poverty and on the other hand swans around the world with his Rothschild related girlfriend?

There is something genuinely not right about this man and I tend to think he is what many have already suggested on many forums is no more than an establishment plant

  10. A like him he seems a good guy and you have to take your hat off to him given his * record

  11. I totally idolise him. Hes as close to a hero as ill ever have.

  12. :56:

Big Russ is the definition of human Marmite.

  13. This is the thing with taking this kind of step as a celebrity. You have to know that you're pretty clean when it comes to matters of money & tax.

If there's any dirt at all, the press will find it and they'll use it.

  14. Can see why some think he's a bit of a hypocrite but ultimately, he made his own money fair and square off his own talents, he wasn't born into wealth by any means so even if he * legions of girls on private islands and pays their escort agencies with Russian criminal money into Swiss tax haven accounts - fair * to him. It's his money.

  15. This :50:

  16. As I said, if you're going to stick your head above the turret and make noises about social and economic inequality you have to do so with the understanding that if you have anything in your past that will * you up, it will be brought to light.

For example, Brand has been listed as a director of a production company called Mayfair Film Partnership Limited, which was offering wealthy investors the opportunity to invest in one of his movies, with incentives such as massive tax breaks of up to 60% on any profit generated.

Just under £1 million worth of shares was sold to individuals such as an executive for JPMorgan Chase, and he even went as far as taking advantage of a Government scheme offering tax breaks for those who invest in new businesses at a certain level financially.

Now, none of that is illegal of course, but it doesn't really sit with his recent banter regarding profit being a dirty word, does it?

    He was also spotted sitting among the wealthy suits in an executive box at a West Ham game rather than in beside the "common people". Joey Barton Tweeted;

Again, nothing wrong with that, but if you're going to attack the wealthy, the tax dodgers and those who benefit from extreme wealth you really should ensure that you're not one of them first :smiley-laughing002:

  17. Jimmy Carr used perfectly legal methods to reduce his tax and look what happened to him.
    Just pointing that out.

  18. I watch his channel on Youtube he's alright Russel genuine *, used to despise the guy before just the way he looked n acted "Rhubarb" every 5 secs but nah don't judge book by its cover lesson learned.

  19. Oh, he comes across alright on Youtube? That's okay then. As long as he's saying the right things, throwing phrases out there such as "inequality" and coming across well on Youtube then that's fair enough.
