The only thing I'm a little disappointed about is the money we spent on Balde.

I know we've needed a target man for a while, but imagine that money had went to Alfie and we had signed both Pukki and Finnbogason. It would have put us in a much better position to qualify.

The only silver lining that I can see is if we manage to qualify, we might buy Alfie in January for the last 16 in February.

While I appreciate there are running costs of the club there should also be a financial model or business plan in place to account for this , your business costs are not allowed to factor in non guarantee income , from last year till present we have taken in 6m ki,5m hoops,12m wanyama,3m Wilson,26m champs league, and now a further 16m minimum from this years participation, this 68m is not a guaranteed income , the player sales of that amount are part of our business model however and will be used to develop the clubs infrastructure and commercial side . We cannot simply be told that this money is out towards running the club , because all of that cash could just have easily not been there , if we hasn't got in last year wanyama turned out not so good etx. So essentially are we being told our club runs at a loss or is reliant on this , because if we are reliant on champions league etx then we need proven players brought in aswell as rough diamonds .

Lighten up a bit guys. The players weve signed havent even had a real chance.

    Boeriggter looks class
    Van dijk looks solid

The other two signings havent even been here more than 48 hours and everyones saying it was a poor transfer window?

The finbo thread showed just how gullible people are on here.

Boerrigter should have been signed no matter what we needed his type of player no because we sold players , moyoukolo dont know how to spell that yet a think was got for cover. A was not sure of van dijk at first but he played well yesterday so hope that is a sign of things to come i just think we could have done better to strengthen

Not yesterday he didn't. I'm sure I saw him tackled by a blade of grass at one point... In fact he was almot invisible yesterday. Just came back from a wee injury so he gets a pass from me - which is more than he got yesterday. :86:

Question you have to ask is, have we came out this window stronger than we were before it?

Clearly a lot of folk are going to say no!

After all we've lost Hooper, Wanyama and Wilson!

We've also lost Lassad, Miku and Watt in the ST dept - and also McCourt, Gershon and perhaps one or two other youth / fringe players.

Through the 'in' door we have Virgil, Buton and Pukki to replace the aforementioned spine.

We also have Balde and Mouyokolo added to the squad, effectively replacing Watt and Gershon.

So far, IMO we haven't strengthened.

However add to that the signing of Boerrigter and here we have made a difference!

He is clearly not a replacement for McCourt and his quality will make a difference.

Add to that the last minute loan signing of the young German GK from Fulham who, TBF probably won't make much of an impact at all.

As for the others we have signed - only time will tell if our new spine will be as effective and strong as our last but one thing's for sure - we must give them time!!!

    Hail Hail

I think there was going to be a lot of people on here disappointed with whatever we done if we didn't sign Finnbogason which we never looked like doing.

See the thing that annoys me is lennon giving it big licks in the press saying we need two strikers and need a left back?? Im happy with the business we've done but I wish he would * up and wait until stuff is concrete before blabbing about it. The quote of " Why not both?" When asked about Finnbogason and Pukki. We are extremely short upfront and at left back and still lack a creative midfielder.

Dare I suggest he's maybe trying to through the hacks off track...

As for the LB - manure didn't want to deal until Baines was in so we ran out of time - blame the hfa for that one!

As for Finbo, apparently Park said he wasn't worth the money Heerenveen wanted!

    I'm excited I must say.

Biton is highly rated, Pukki played for one of the top teams in the Bundesliga, Van Dijk is getting better with every game and Boerrigter was a regular for Ajax.

A far cry from buying bench warmers at nottingham forrest and strikers from Scunthorpe.

See when people say "we haven't strengthened", who do you * want us to sign? Piqué, Busquets and Messi? Again, I'm repeating myself but we signed Van Dijk (Eredivisie team of the year, Groningen player of the year, an U21 international who plays for one of the top nations in world football with a hugely competitive youth set-up), Biton (Israel U21 captain and the hottest prospect in Israeli football) and Pukki (a Finnish international who only had his playing time at one of the biggest clubs in Europe limited by Klass-Jan Huntelaar - he's not a second striker, he's an out-and-out goalscorer). Boerrigter was a first team player in a very good Ajax side and oozes class; he would have been capped for the Netherlands had he not broken his back - and by the way, he's not injury-prone. Baldé is a Portugal U21 international with all the physical attributes to be a very good centre-forward. He's the target-man that everyone on here has been asking for - now that we have him, people have written him off 3 games into the domestic season. Mouyokolo, on a free and on a short-term contract, is a risk-free signing with Premier League experience and may turn out to be a very good player for us. All of our signings have played at a high level (Eredivisie, Primeira Liga, Bundesliga, Premier League, Champions League, internationally).

Wilson was playing for Nottingham Forest in the Championship and was a complete unknown to most people here, when we signed him on a free transfer. Gary Hooper, whilst he had a good goal scoring record in the Championship, was unproven at a higher and was signed for Scunthorpe. Wanyama was plucked out of obscurity from Germinal Beerschot, a bottom-half-of-the-table side in the Belgian Pro League, for less than £1m.

All three were unproven at a higher level and - for those who think we should spend more money to guarantee quality - all three were signed for a fraction of what we've spent this window.

All of the young guys we've signed (Van Dijk, Biton, Baldé & Pukki) are proven at a higher level and have greater potential than Wilson and Hooper, certainly. Who knows, maybe Biton will smash the transfer record set by Wanyama in a few years time.

Just because you haven't seen them play, doesn't mean they aren't more than adequate replacements for - or better than - Wilson, Wanyama and Hooper.

Some people have already judged them not to be good enough from misleading statistics they've found on Wikipedia and their "gut feeling".

Hooper's second choice striker at Norwich; Pukki was second choice striker at Schalke. Give him some respect or, at least, the chance to prove himself.

I can't be sure but, in my view, we've strengthened. I'll certainly give our new players a chance to prove themselves before branding this transfer window, in which we've spent close to £10m, a disaster or a disappointment.

    Exactly mate.

The fact he said yesterday "hoping to get one or two more in" - the same thing he had been saying for a month - only got the fans hopes up. Yet again, though, we were let down.

After an initial disappointment last night, I'm feeling a bit better this morning. I like how a lot of our signings was bought early on in the window, giving them more time to get used to the team, hopefully Biton and Pukki will settle in quite quickly. There are places I feel we could be stronger at admittedly. Those positions being a left back, and one other striker.

If we don't buy in January, I'll be a bit peeved. I know everyone harks on about running costs, yadda yadda yadda, but the money's there to spend.
