I can see potential not just the obvious. Petrov was rank but I still knew he had it in him. Beattie looked very good for the month before he got injured (his only injury-free run in the team), he kept Shaun out, his touch dramatically improoved etc. His development was set back nearly 2 years. He was absolutely rubbish last year but that was not the real Beatts. The guy had pace, power, aerial ability, a good shot, a nose for goals etc all a traditional British forward needs in raw form. He would have made it here if he was not always injured. His problem was his hamstrings not his ability. Dont judge him on last year - he was nowhere near match fit, his touch was gone and he was clearly playing within himself to protect his hamstrings. WGS obviously rated him - he rushed him into the team when he was barely fit. I think the decent price we got reflects his potential if he ever got over his hamstring problem. Marshall is a very good goalie who was exceptional for his age but lost his nerve a bit. He will do well. Problem is he was being treated like he was 25 when he was 19. Too much too young.

to be honset hes descent dont rate him but he does scoe goals hes got a goal for scottland and lets be honest saved your skins so dont start slaggin him off he doesnt have balnce but he can build on it never really got goinjg because of the quality in the team i say fair play to the big fella and all the best in the future he could turn out like a certain stephen peason who should not have left and look were he is in the prem beatties got

ucl experince scored in the champs league (also scoring a goal)
league and cup experince good enough goal ratio
scottland cap and yet again goal

and by slegging him off your only putting the quality of celtic down!!!!

OK Keltoi. How many goals will he score in the Championship? I say he'll struggle to get into double figures. And don't say 'if he stays fit' because that is exactly the reason he'll never make it to the top.

Did Beattie score in the Champions League? I don't think so, but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

In One Word Craig Beattie Is a .. Donkey! His First Touch Is Terrible, Everytime Hes Touched He Goes Down Like Hes Been Shot. He Constantly Complains To The Refs.

I Think This May Be Quoted On Me But :
Even Kenny Miller Is Better! :84:

Beattie isnt good enough, GS was right to sell. Celtic have a higher fitness requirement than the club he's going to so his hammy's might last a bit better.

Beattie was never going to make it at the Hoops, I believe he was a better option than Miller, but like Miller ( and that * Mark Burchill ) his first touch was terrible, and although he frequently got into goal scoring positions his composure and finishing constantly let him down.
At least he didn't behave like Liam Miller of Burchill, so I wish him luck, although I feel he'll probably disappear into lower standard of football in the future.

Tries, but was never gna make it here. Hes not a terrible player though, maybe a fresh start (hopefully free of injuries) will see his best.

Distinctly average. All the talk of "potential" didn't make him good enough for a Champions League side. Bring in Alexander Frei.

1 million is a fair price for him considering the valuation of players of his level down there
