Celtic are continuing to monitor Peterborough's Lee Tomlin after the striker had a transfer request rejected.

    Full story: The People

24 year old English striker, averages 0.2 goals per game, 5ft 9in (1.75m) tall (we normally go for fairly tall players - obviously it's not a major factor, just an observation).

    League record

    Rushden & Diamonds (2005–2010): 100 (56) appearances, 27 goals.
    Peterborough (2010-): 104 (15) appearances, 28 goals.

10 (3) appearances, 4 goals in the FA Cup.
5 (2) appearances, 5 goals in the League Cup.
5 (4) appearances in other competitions, 0 goals.

I've seen him play a few times and I'd rather we signed Kevin Doyle. :smiley-laughing002: All his goals have come at Conference, League Two, League One and Championship level (last season only). Nowhere near as prolific as Hooper was at any level in England and his link-up play is poor in comparison. I can't think of any aspect of his play that's outstanding.

Surely we aren't showing a genuine interest.

    Embarressing.

Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if this was Lawwell and co's answer to a replacement to Hooper.

I hope there's no interest there. If this is the kind of player we're looking at after bringing in £20m+ this window alone (I understand the financial situation, but come on!), we need to take a look at ourselves.

    * *. Is this how far we've come?

12 days to go...get some quality in Lenny and Lawwell, not this.

Why are people reacting as though the club themselves have come out and said this was who we were looking at?

What's the deal with not spending the cash to "ensure" we make the group stages? We all know who everybody is going to blame if we get beat. Would our coefficient be effected much playing in the Europa League? With that being said - to compete in the Europa League we would still need to spend some significant cash.

First off, he's playing this season as an attacking midfielder and has notched a few goals in a few games. Last season he played right wing and center forward.

He's a wee powderkeg of a player, not unlike Commons, good touch, striking abilities decent , very decent in fact.

    I like him actually.

11 goals last season, with 10 assists. Similar record to Commons too.

Every goal's a good strike, even the pens. He's pretty fast and skillful. Scores a few headers too. I'd be happy with this, if the other deals fall through.

He shouldn't really be a priority in any case if we're wanting to bring him in to play behind the striker. Rogić should be pushing Commons for that role, given the fact that he has the World Cup to look forward to with Australia.

He's just as happy playing striker as he is out wide or as an attacking midfielder. So, he scores goals, he creates goals. He can take players on and technically looks very skillful.

Be honest you want to say no because he's not coming from a big league, but even League 1 in England is of a higher standard than the SPL.

Try being a bit more positive. We tried to sign Finn, no go, tried to sign Pukki, no go, other guys no go. This is a deal that could actually happen. Sometime you have to deal with the reality because time is of the essence.

If you judge it purely on skill and technique, someone who knows football would say, actually this guy's not bad at all. Otherwise the standards set are too high and we end up signing nobody.

I've come to the conclusion roskopicachu is an agent for lower league players in England and Scotland!
