A thought Van Dijk had to cover both all night, Mouyokolo was rotten. Anything thrown in the box and Van Dijk was the only one clearing it. The second goal you can't really blame him for not getting to ball quick enough, because the original shot took a deflection and landed straight on the strikers head.

Am really excited to see more of Van Dijky, bring in another CB to partber him or put Muldini there.

I'm glad I missed this because I was working. Sounds like it was painful to watch

Van Dijk should have got out to the man on the wing before the ball was put into the box, before the shot had been took after the dodgy header.

    Awful defending all round.

Less negativity people! Yes, this was a very disappointing match but let's just look forward to the return leg in Celtic Park when our bhoys put forth a historic effort to get back into the Champions League!

I'd like to see this team next week:

    Forster
    Matthews van Dijk Mulgrew Izzy
    Boerrigter Brown Ledley Commons
    Stokes Balde

You won't. You'll see Sammy up top, Mulgrew in midfield and Balde selling chips in the stands.

Sad day yesterday ... We need to keep away as soon as possible.
Wednesday night we have to get on attack since first minute and i'll hope to see Stokes Samaras , Forrest, Commons all together.

I leave italy on monday and i will stay some days at Glasgow... I believe in our bhoys and in our coach.

    Mon the hoops !!

I think a boulder may have moved quicker than van Dijk last night.

Looked absolutely awful, and very timid for a guy built like a brick shithoose.

Did you not see the instance where Virgil was grappling the Shakter striker like somebody employed by the WWE? It was very telling.

just like every other defender in the world will have done before, it was about as 'telling' as having to wipe your * after a * is... jog on.

mouyokolo was out of his depth

Good defenders, if they have to grapple, do it smartly. Virgil was immobile and clumsy and it was clear as day that he isn't what we suspected he could be.

to be fair he shouldnt have started, that was late on in the game where he obviously wasnt match fit, mouyokolo left him with the abundance of the defending to do up until then

I agree van dijk was bad,but again a tactical master class by Lenny throwing him in at the deep end on his European debut having just got back from injury and not started a game for us :31:

Were there any instances where Virgil proved effective at tackling? He done a grand total of two things; clear it, and play a 5 yard pass to Scott Brown.

Which is odd since he apparently played well at the weekend and I'd fancy pretty much anyone in the SPL to beat this team.

What else do you want? Ambrose who will dribble up past the half way loose it and be *? In fact ambrose would of opened the game up more doing that... Get ambrose back!

I understand your frustration and I would agree if it was half way through the season with many games under his belt , but the truth is he came on for minutes against Aberdeen after Injury and not getting any real pre season , then a flight to Asia and its Lennons fault he pitted him in the deep end not van djik's mate , if you were tired and had to get through 90 mins against a striker that lets be honest watched the ball being passed around then had energy to run at u , I'm sure you see what I'm getting at mate,

Other basic desirable attributes would be effective tackling and an ability to take the ball down when you've time rather than lumping it.

Swap Samaras with Forrest, and then get Forrest out the starting X1 for Boerrigter and I wouldn't mind this team. But it's about time Lennon started dropping players that aren't peroforming and need a boot up the *.
