What better time to come on and hold the ball up. The guy is a giant and would have had a bit more strength on the ball...stokes is a skillful player but in another situation a like for like substitution might have been better..

The pitch is a huge factor. They obviously * up the underlay and the drainage. It also looked quite worn down - maybe it's meant to be like that. I guess what happens is you go for a burst of pace - you slide and it puts the hamstrings at risk. You go to put on the breaks, you stretch your ankle ligaments.

The camber is just completely confusing because the ball doesn't run flat.

I think that's why we sat in and tried to keep the ball high up to Samaras. Safety first.

Big Kelvin was solid again - he'll be missed, but fair do's to the guy he put in one or two brilliant challenges.

 

the same Anthony stokes who struggled for a start under lenny last season. I don't agree with the decision to put stokes on but hes certainly never been one of lenny's favorites. I personally would have thrown watt on to provide some aerial ability and pace up top. I wouldn't have thrown balde into such an important match because hes barely played for us so far and when he has hes looked bad. So i'd rather we blood him in during a less important game than the champions league qualifier.
