Barca should have beat us at Camp nou, and did.
We should have beat them at Parkhead, and did.

We will beat Elfsborg, again. There's no point acting pseudo-humble because we simply are better than them.

Hope that Derk shakes off his ankle knock from Saturday for this one as I really liked what I saw of him on Saturday and in a game when we may have some good counter attacking opportunities he would be very dangerous I think.

Talking like this reminds me of the way Juve supporters came on here after they beat us in the CL.

I prefer to have respect for our opponents. It's basic sportsmanship.

I respect them for what they are, which is beneath us. You wouldn't criticise me for saying this about Ross County or Hearts, so it stinks of pseudo-humility to me that you are all concerned about me being disrespectful to Elfsborg. Me saying that Celtic are the bigger and better club, which is true, is not going to permanently damage our reputation in Europe mate :56:

The people who like us, will always like us. And huns will be huns. You should not concern yourself with any of that or talk of sportsmanship - none of us on this thread are sportsmen!!!

Juve were entitled to say what they wanted after they beat us, just like Elfsborg fans will be entitled to say what they want if they beat us. It's football.

No one expected us to beat barcelona, but we did.. I cant understand the attitude that this is going to be a * walk in the park. We are better and we should win but that doesnt mean its gonna happen...

You remind me of a Real madrid/chelsea/man city supporter. All other teams are beneath us and we are the best simply because were a bigger club...

    * Hearts but you'll find I always treat non-scumbag clubs like Ross County and most of our other opponents with respect in match threads.

Basic respect is hardly pseudo-humility. We're not invincible and we shouldn't act like we are otherwise we represent the worst side of footballing arrogance.

aslong as we dont go into this game half heartedly or like thinking of a draw

    we should do ok

but we have to go in with a certain amount of attitude that we are the bigger better club and impose ourselves on them

    * hate it when we go into these games a bit distracted or doubting ourselves that is when the * will hit the fan, i'd also expect bangura to play, they could be kidding on about the injury, noit that we should be scared but i wouldnt like the players to be caught by surprise of him being on the field

seen it many a time as a celtic supporter away in europe

the players and coaching staff have to go into this game with the belief that we are better individually and as a team and go into this game to win it, then we'll be sound

It is not all ''pseudo-humility''. Some on here believe we should respect Elfsborgs as they are more than capable of knocking us out. Celtic fans saying ''We will put them out'' like it is a dead on certainty are just plain arrogant imo. What gives us the right to talk like that after Celtic being on the receiving end of a good few upsets in recent seasons ?

Calm down lads, you do realise nothing we say on here has any effect on the real score? :smiley-laughing002:
It's not arrogant, i'm merely respectfully stating the truth. If you are uncomfortable with that then that's your problem. The Juve fans to whom you refferred earlier were being dicks, i'm not calling all Swedes fannies or being disrespectful though.

I'm not saying we're bigger than Real Madrid or are going to win the CL, for me to assert that we should beat Elfsborg is hardly controversial ffs.
I'm sure even their own fans and players would agree with that.

And I expected us to beat Barcelona at home, which we did.

Upsets are upsets purely because they're rare, so you should not be concentrating on the possibility of one occuring against us on Wednesday.

The fact is, we are a better team than them. We proved that in the first leg. On paper, it's ours for the taking. Yes, we've been on the receiving end of some upsets, but so has every team, it's no reason not to be confident or to think we won't win. We've been on the wrong end of some upsets domestically too, but it doesn't stop us being confident when league games come around.
It is 6:45. 7:45 Swedish time.

if we had as many league games under our belt as elfsborg then i would be very confident but we don't and thats what worries me.

    No problem with Bangura

Mohamed Bangura has received positive news for Wednesday's Champions League qualifier against Celtic.

"There is no bleeding and no damage to the muscle" says Elfsborg team physician Matilda Lundblad to SVT Sport after the striker had a hypo in the thigh at Monday's workout.

During Monday's workout was a striker coming on in the back of the right thigh. After an MRI has however been seen that the attacker does not have incurred any damage.

"He will train fully in the morning and it looks positive for the game" said team physician Elfsborg Matilda Lundblad to SVT Sport.

Elfsborg faced Celtic in the second leg in qualifying for the Champions League. The reigning Swedish champions trailing by 0-1 before Wednesday's game.

Elfsborg skipper Anders Svensson has blasted his own team after they slumped to defeat ahead of their crucial clash with Celtic on Wednesday.

The Swedes were looking for a timely boost from their weekend meeting with AIK Stockholm — but crashed to a 2-1 defeat which looks to have ended any slim hopes they had of winning the domestic title.
Veteran midfielder Svensson, whose side are trailing 1-0 from the first leg at Celtic Park last week, said:

"We have thrown away all the good headlines we got after the Celtic game."

"I don’t think we were tired after the match in Glasgow, but it seemed that way. We were stagnant and stale."

Should of been more than 1-0 but we were quite rusty. We are a week on now and should be sharper.

Qualification will have a big impact on signings. If we made it too the GS i'd want Lennon to be given £5million to spend.
